I got fired so now I full time indie hack

    I work in Germany, and there are protections against being fired unjustly, and this is most certainly an unjust firing, but because it's now a court matter, I can't go into details about that just yet.

    I'm less curious about what the OP is going to do now that he is indie hacking and I'm more curious about what exactly happened in order for him or her to get fired.

    I rarely ever hear about anyone getting fired from a software company, let alone someone who is a SWE. It's frankly unheard of. So I wonder what the OP must have done or not done to get fired, because as he says, getting fired is just such a wildly unheard of thing in the technology world.

    Either way, best of luck in your legal battle as far as the firing. That must have been a jarring experience I'm sure, but don't let it get to you. I'm sure you've got a solid case (although I don't know what the case is).

      I will be sharing the wild ride that caused this once the legal stuff is finished. It's honestly completely nuts and most likely gonna get tons of shares due to how nuts and how rare a story like it is. If you follow me on here you'll eventually see it. I suspect the legal stuff will be solved in 4-5 weeks.

    Best of luck in your future, Iain!

    Your plight reminded me of a metric that the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation tracks: The opportunity share of new entrepreneurs.

    Basically, they look at the percentage of new entrepreneurs who created a business by choice instead of necessity. This distinction is useful because it offers some insight into the influence of economic conditions on overall business creation. (It seems that you'd still be operating out of choice).

    Regardless, the share of entrepreneurs by choice is steadily increasing after tanking in 2020, which is generally a favorable sign for humanity. I would imagine the vast majority of IHers are operating out of choice rather than necessity but perhaps there are some outliers.
