I got my first dollar online with my AI tool 🎉

I'm excited to share that I made my first dollar online, in fact I've made more than that since yesterday when my AI tool started get spread by listing websites.

I'm the founder of GetBetterPics an AI tool to generate photoshoots, headshots and portraits for people looking to get more professional looking photos for their linkedin or websites. Or just people wanting good pictures in general.

The idea came from the fact that all available AI image gen tools were focused on generating images in more casual and fun styles like anime, painters, characters and none of that is suitable for those who simply want their own image, but with a more polished look, like with better background and lighting or better poses. Also the fact that it's really hard to take good pictures. I mean, I had to try many poses and different lighting and even use some photoshop (which I had no skill) to get a minimally decent photo to put on my linkedin, it took me more than a day to do all this. Some people are luckier and are used to taking pictures, but not everyone.

I've been working on GetBetterPics for about 5 months now after being inspired by all the amazing tools coming out in AI and it's been a crazy ride. It's amazing to see my tool popping up from time to time on other wesites.

I'm a first-time entrepreneur after almost 3 years of just lurking on indiehackers and being an wantrepreneur. It took me months to build the tool because I had too much to learn.

I remember seeing all these stripe alerts people were showing on twitter 3 years ago and thinking how far from happening this was for me and now here I am having my first clients so I think this is worth sharing with indiehackers.

My strategy was to develop a good mvp with the cheapest tech stack so I could iterate a lot without worrying about my costs and I must confess I made some classic first-time founder mistakes like putting too much time into design, using typescript being relativelly new to it and being too concerned about scaling issues, but now I'm committed to marketing.

One of the biggest struggles right now is getting customers, as I don't have a significant audience on Twitter and it's crazy how hard it is to get traction. One of the biggest things I've learned is the real impact audiences have.
I thought it was no big deal to go viral with your following and attract a small customer base, but even that is difficult and building an audience is a long process. Some of those AI tools that are making thousands of dollars would possibly have
no client if built by the wrong person. That said, I think GetBetterPics is seeing healthy growth and everything is working as planned.

I'm currently considering updating my website copy to better reflect the issues I'm trying to solve. I have a feeling it's a bit vague and starting to get outdated since I wrote it, a month ago.

Despite everything, I'm very proud of what I've built and happy to be in this space. It's amazing to see how many people in the AI scene collaborate with each other. I have to thank @AnthonyCastrio for wanting to feature my tool in his newsletter despite it being so new.
