I got my Notion Template acquired for 4-figures on Acquire

I created a Notion template series called "Cockpit Life OS," which is a system that helps individuals get organized and be 10x more productive in their lives.

Once it crossed $900 in sales, I felt that I needed something else, and this one was not for me. It's by far my best-selling product and has helped over 300+ people become organized and productive.

So, I decided to get it acquired and listed it in Jan 2023.

It took me 4 months to make that happen.

Here's a complete breakdown of how I did it along with the lessons I learned:

  1. Listing on Acquire.

I filled out all the details for version 1 and submitted a request just as an experiment (because I thought Notion templates weren't meant to be there).

To my surprise, the next day Acquire vetted and published the listing.

It was verified as a startup.

Lesson: Every Notion template is a potential startup.

  1. Sharing the news with my audience

I sent out a tweet and an email to my audience, letting them know that Cockpit Life OS is ready for acquisition. This increased the traffic towards the listing and visibility on Acquire.

Lesson: Your audience is the backbone of any success.

  1. Communicating with the leads

When someone signed an NDA, I would see their profile on Acquire and then write a personalized message inviting them for a quick chat. I did that every single day, but the stones were left unturned until April.

Lesson: Don't give up...have patience.

  1. The turning point

Another prospect asked me if I would like to sell the entire series (V1 + V2). I said NO, but felt it would be a great idea to sell both.

Lesson: Great things come when you say NO 😂

  1. The last message I sent via Acquire

Finally, another lead sent me an LOI for my asking price (4-fig and only V1).

I sent my Cal link and said, "let's close the deal."

We got on a call, and I asked if they were interested in taking ownership of the entire series for a higher price.

They said yes!

  1. The end-game

I asked some questions on how they would take the series to the next level, and I got the answers, which I felt right.

Hell yeah! I signed my first Asset Purchase Agreement 🥳

This was just the start and we agreed on a long-term relationship!

Never in my wildest dreams, did I imagine I would make an exit.

It was not easy; it took 4 months.

I used to reach out to the leads while I was on my way to school, so that I didn't have to spend extra time later.

And now I can say, it was all worth it :)

More than the acquisition process, I want you to take away 3 things from this thread:

  1. Take risks that don't affect anyone.
  2. Good things take time.
  3. Never stop working hard.

If I would've given up in the first month, I wouldn't be writing this post.

Thanks for reading!
