I got shadowbanned on Reddit and Twitter in the same week while trying to reach my first user. Here's what actually happened.

Last week I was doing everything right.
Commenting on posts. Engaging with communities. Trying to reach real Notion users before building anything. Every guide says the same thing: go where your users are, add value, don't spam.
So I did exactly that.
By the end of the week I had been shadowbanned on both Reddit and Twitter. Simultaneously.

Here's what actually happened.
The Reddit problem
I started commenting across multiple subreddits. r/Notion. r/productivity. r/SaaS. My karma wasn't increasing. I assumed my comments weren't getting upvoted. So I kept going.
A week passed. Karma still zero. Contributions still zero.
Then I opened my profile in incognito mode.
Page not found.

Every comment I wrote for an entire week was visible only to me. Reddit never told me. No warning. No email. Just silence.

The Twitter problem
Same week. Same story.
Opened my profile in incognito:
"hasn't posted. When they do, their posts will show up here."
I had posted dozens of times that week.
Two platforms. One week. Both silent.
What actually caused it
Not the content. The pattern.
New account + multiple communities + high volume = bot behavior in the eyes of both algorithms. They don't read your content. They read your behavior.

What I should have done:

One subreddit only for the first 2 weeks
Maximum 3-5 comments per day
Never more than 2 communities per day
Check your profile in incognito every few days

Where I am now
Reddit — new account. Starting over. Slower this time.
Twitter — waiting out the shadowban.
Indie Hackers — the only platform that actually worked this week.
This is day 10 of building in public. Not the highlight reel version. The real one.
