I got the budget... now what??

Today I finally got the budget to start the development of my new product: Studio.

Studio is an app targeted mainly to students of University. It can help you taking notes, it has self-valutation tests, stats and notification to keep you on track.

The app is under construction, I am the only developer.

I don't want to waste time and I'd like to start promoting it and marketing it. My budget is not huge (about 3,000 โ‚ฌ).

๐Ÿ‘‰ What do you suggest?

โœ”๏ธŽ Mailing list: how do I feed it? Facebook Ads?

โœ”๏ธŽ Content marketing: this is crucial. I want to explain my successful methods to study but how can I hire a writer who knows this matter? This kind of posts are quite technical and you can't simply put keywords in the text.

โœ”๏ธŽ Influencers: I'm not sure my budget would be enough but my main question is: does it make sense to hire influencers without the product? Should I wait?

โœ”๏ธŽ Social channels: is it worth it to spend time and money building Facebook/Instagram(/TikTok??) channels? What kind of post I should write (or make write) if I don't have yet the product?

โœ”๏ธŽ Reddit: should I write a post in Reddit? Should I wait before I have the product ready?

๐Ÿ‘‹Please help me ๐Ÿ˜€I'm exactly that kind of geek who can develop in any language, make any kind of program but I extremely suck at marketing and stuff like this.

Have you validated your idea first? Are you sure there are people interested in it? Have you talked to potential users?

I know nothing about validation of ideas. I didn't talk to users, I used my own experience to see how useful is the tool I built. Other that, this kind of app is nothing new but the ones you currently find on market could be improved on many aspects.

Iโ€™d start from here. Lot of useful reads.

Thanks, it has many good hints. Actually, Studio is not my first project. I made profit from other projects so I have some experience. My big, big problem is marketing, how do I let the world know about my project? My post has very specific questions :)

Sounds interesting, cant wait to see the advice from the community (I dont know much about marketing and want to learn too). Some random thoughts:

    From what you wrote,

"The app is under construction, I am the only developer.
I don't want to waste time and I'd like to start promoting it and marketing it."

I get the idea that you want to skip or already went through the problem validation phase, and you want to get users for your product, without a product. So sign ups for a "closed beta exclusive access" come to mind, or finding other mechanisms to show the value and get a commitment from the users. But how are you going to show the value without the product? Very interesting challenges that I am sure you will overcome, keep us posted!

The "closed beta" is a very good point, thanks!

To test without doing direct interviews up front, I'd recommend:

    • Set up a landing page - you can either do a fake sign up to track clicks for measuring interest; or you can be more upfront and do a waiting list sign up.
    • Create content like blog posts related to what you're doing to help drive interest, traffic to your landing page
    • Post content (your own, external) in related communities, can be IH, LinkedIn, Reddit, etc.
    • Drive traffic through paid ads (Google Ads, LinkedIn, FB, etc.)

I'm currently using ClickFunnels in order to save time building and wiring a landing page where I'll collect email of interested users. I'd be very happy to pay someone to write posts but finding someone with the needed knowledge... quite impossible. I guess I'll have to start write sooner or later.

I agree with @andreboso. Have you validated your idea with the market?
