I got tired of bloated game wikis, so I built a 100-Lighthouse score companion app

Hey Indie Hackers! πŸ‘‹

I’m a long-time JRPG fan and a web developer. Recently, the Dragon Quest VII Reimagined demo dropped, and I immediately ran into a problem we all hate: Modern game wikis are awful.

They are riddled with autoplay videos, stickies covering 30% of the screen, and massive layout shifts. Trying to use them on mobile while playing a game is a nightmare.

So, I spent my weekend building The Adventure Logβ€”a clean, interactive tool to solve this.

πŸ’‘ The Problem DQ7 is a massive game involving collecting hundreds of "Shards" to unlock islands. A static text guide isn't enough; you need to track what you've found.

πŸ› οΈ The Tech Stack I wanted this to be instant-loading and free to host.

  • Astro: For the "Island Architecture." The site ships Zero JavaScript by default for the content, ensuring a perfect 100 Lighthouse score.

  • Tailwind CSS: For rapidly prototyping a clean, game-menu aesthetic.

  • LocalStorage: I didn't want to force users to sign up. The checklist state (which shards you've found) persists locally in the browser.

✨ The "Product" It’s not just a blog; it’s a tool.

  • Shard Locator: Filters fragments by Region/Color.

  • Interactive Checklists: Tracks missable items.

  • No Ads: Just pure utility.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the UX, specifically the card layout on mobile!
