I got tired of dropping a lease or an iPhone photo on iLovePDF and hoping they deleted it later.

So I built the tools I actually use.

https://imissfiles.com/

What it is

- Merge, split, compress, HEIC, OCR, a few text tools

- Runs in the tab — pdf-lib, PDF.js, libheif WASM, Tesseract

- No account, no cap

- Ads pay the hosting. They sit around the workbench. They do not get the file.

The claim is checkable. Open any tool, press F12, switch to Network, drop a file. You should not see a POST the size of the file.

I wrote that check down so I would stop asking people to trust a privacy policy:

What I'm stuck on

This is a utility. People search "merge pdf" and click the first result. I do not have a Product Hunt list. I have been leaving the Network-tab writeup in places where people already worry about the upload.

If you have shipped something in this shape — free tool, ads, no account — what actually moved the needle after launch? SEO pages, comparison posts, or just waiting?

Happy to hear what is weak on the site too.

The Network-tab proof is much stronger than a privacy claim. Have you seen that angle produce meaningfully better search traffic or engagement, or is proving the privacy advantage commercially still the unknown?

Still the unknown on traffic. The guide went up yesterday, so I do not have ranking data yet.

What I have seen is engagement quality. People argue with "we never upload." They open Network. On the writeup, comments go to the method — POST vs GET, WASM fetches, ads firing — not to a feature list.

Commercially I am treating it as a trust page, not a growth lever I can already measure. If it starts showing up for "does ilovepdf upload" type queries I will know. Until then I would rather have a check people can run than a better slogan.

That engagement quality is a strong signal. I’d be interested in following what the search data shows. If you’re open to it, what’s the best email to reach you on?
