I want to share InteraOne, an open-source, self-hostable customer support automation platform I've been building.
The problem
Tools like Intercom and Zendesk get expensive fast as support volume or seat count grows, and you're locked into their pricing and roadmap with no way to run things differently even if you wanted to. On top of that, all your customer conversation data lives on someone else's infrastructure — which never sat right with me for something this central to a business.
What I built
InteraOne handles the support lifecycle end-to-end — a chat widget captures the incoming conversation, it gets routed and automated (including AI-assisted responses), and it's resolved — but you run the whole thing yourself. No per-seat fees, no data leaving your infrastructure, and you can modify anything since it's open source.
Great project! Taking back control over data and pricing is huge. The point about AI auditing is spot on: self-hosting stores the data, but transparency means knowing why the AI gave a specific answer. Looking forward to seeing this grow!
Self-hosting answers where the data sits, not why the AI said what it said to a given customer. Once responses are automated, the thing worth keeping isn't just the message, it's what triggered it, which doc or rule fired. Without that trail "self-hosted" and "auditable" aren't the same thing.
Really impressive project. I like that you're tackling both the cost and data ownership problems at the same time. Self-hosting and open source give businesses much more control over their support stack, especially if they have privacy or compliance requirements.
AI-assisted automation is becoming a must-have, but being able to run it on your own infrastructure is a strong differentiator. Looking forward to seeing how InteraOne evolves.
What stood out to me is that you're questioning who should own a company's support infrastructure.
That's a different conversation than feature parity. It changes the relationship people have with a system they rely on every day.
