Light is light, "dark" is not so dark. I would go with something deeper, but maybe it's a personal taste. It's more an "inverted theme" than a dark one to me.
Both look great anyways, with a slight preference for the light one :). Nice job!
Interesting, you are not alone who would go for darker colors.
