I have ADHD, so I built a no-guilt task app. The hard part now is getting users on $0.

I'm a solo dev with ADHD. Every to-do app I tried punished me — broken streaks, guilt notifications, all clearly designed for a brain that isn't mine. So I built DopaHop: dump one overwhelming task and it splits into small steps, and it doesn't punish you for an off day (miss one and it just welcomes you back). It's now live on iOS + Android.

The build taught me one thing. It started as just a task-breaker, then routines, meds reminders, brain dump, focus sounds and home-screen widgets crept in — because I kept opening other apps next to it. I still can't tell if that's "the whole ADHD day in one place" or plain scope creep. Jury's out.

Anyway, the product was the easy part. Here's where I'm stuck and would love this community's take:

Distribution on a $0 budget. The places my actual users are (ADHD subreddits) ban app promotion. The places that welcome promotion — here, Product Hunt, r/SideProject — are mostly other founders, not people with ADHD looking for an app. ASO + a slow content blog is my plan, but it's... slow.

So, for a consumer app with no ad spend: how did you get your first 100 real users (actual users, not fellow founders)? What genuinely moved the needle, and what turned out to be a waste of time?
