I have generated 25,101 clicks to AI Tools, and now I want to help you too! 🤝

Hellooooo Indie hackers!

I posted way back in January about the first version of my side project, ToolsForHumans.ai (TFH), which ended up doing pretty well - 100k+ page views, 25k+ tool matches and 1.6k email subs!

Thank-you for all the feedback and support, it really helped settle my anxious brain that tends to over-think everything.

A post on here the other day "I'm dying to find an idea to pursue" reminded me how long I had dreamt about creating something that people actually found value in, and wanted to use.

The promotion tactics that have worked the best for me so far are -

Twitter: I had zero online presence before starting TFH and so I had no audience to tap into to help promote the site. Instead I fired £20 a day into ads for a week or two with a focus on look-a-like audiences of popular people within the AI space.

As my budget was small, I targeted English speaking people from countries other than the US and UK to keep costs down which led to 6.5k clicks to TFH and also tweets from influencers within the space e.g. https://twitter.com/guillaume_rygn/status/1618536392379994114

Here is the exact ad I used with a picture of my site -

"I launched a website that showcases AI tools and potential use cases that you can filter by your profession for FREE!

Excited to be closing in on 50 email subscribers as this is the first time I've launched a side-project!

Thank you for the support <3"

I don't know if being genuine within the ad, talking about how excited I was to hit 50 email subs helped out or not. That's something to debate in the comments, but I'd like to think it did.

Google: I'm from an SEO background, so even though my site might not be the most optimised thing on the planet yet. I understand the importance of ranking well, and how consistent the traffic can be if you set things up in the right way. Currently I've generated 14k-ish clicks from people searching for TFH and for the brand names of tools, which is only going to increase further as rankings improve from fully rolling out the new version of profile pages.

I now need to dedicate more time to rolling out additional informational pages, targeting search intent, over the next couple of months to increase my traffic further. I absolutely loveeeeeee using Ahrefs for finding keyword ideas e.g. looking at similar sites within your niche and clicking around on their rankings / most popular pages for inspiration.

I'd like to start collaborating with more people from within the community, as I embark on launching / promoting V2 of the site and ramping everything up a notch.

I'm introducing a 'Pay What You Want' model so if you're just starting out and want to see if your MVP has legs, cool. Let's work together to get it onto the site, profile creation and use case integration, and advertise it within the newsletter for free.

Reply below, shoot me an email or use the form on ToolsForHumans.ai to get in touch and I'll be more than happy to help.

Thanks <3
