I have my website, now what?
I thought the most difficult part for an indie hacker was to be able to handle both development and marketing. Today I'm sure I was right!
This weekend I integrated Stripe and it all became real. I found myself at my computer thinking, now what?
I've done niche sites before where I knew who to talk to, in specific communities on Reddit for example, but with my latest site, I admit I don't know where to talk about it.
Multy allows you to create lists of urls and share them with a simple link. This can potentially be of interest to everyone, but that's why it's hard to know who to talk to.
I've already received emails from a college in the US that uses it regularly for classes, from a real estate agent, and from an actress in Canada.
These people are so different that I have trouble understanding how to be effective.
What would you do?
I thought of taking each profession that contacted me and extend it to communities on Facebook or reddit (real estate agents, schools). I'm just wondering if this is a good strategy...

A quick thought from my side is that you should pick a niche / vertical and try to sell into it. I would definitely look into why real estate agents are using your product. You may find that there is another website they use your service in conjunction with and then you could partner with that site to build a complementary integration to get your traffic. Think like Zillow or Redfin and maybe build a custom branded landing page for those users ro something like that. the gist is investigate where the money is and try to upsell services to them.

I have the same thought. What is the motivation for this tool? Solve your own pain or other people's pain?
Actually it was for 2 persons I found on Reddit, they didn't find a tool like that and I thought it was a good idea (I struggled several time to share a bunch of links before, without thinking about building something).
Maybe I need to think more about who are my users, and where to find them, but it's definitely a skill I don't have right now!
Yes, niche down. Find a strong user case for your product. Otherwise, it is hard to find your users. If you know who your users are, then it is easier to find and market to them. That is why niche down starting out is important.
Hey Michael, I definitely hear you here and this is something I'm trying to overcome right now. I've been running paid ads and building an outbound marketing list. One thing that I want to do that I've not been able to be as active on is joining communities and groups for networking. All the best, sounds like a great piece of utility.
Finding communities/group is definitely something great when you have a clear target/niche!
One way to make a passive income from this would be to put it inside a Mac desktop wrapper and sell it through Setapp. Let their existing userbase contribute to your income through installation and usage. It probably won't be the $3/mo you're asking for on the website, but if you don't have to do extra work for it, anything would be welcome, right?
Also - and I'm sure you're painfully aware of this - there's already a browser extension called "Multy" with a very poor reputation.
I need to check this for Mac. Right now I don't have a macbook so it will be difficult to work on it.
The browser extension is mine 😁 but I didn't work on it since the beginning. I don't know why it has a poor reputation through... Just one person rated it one star.
I need to rework on it and change the design.

I thought so - I'd just googled "multy app" and that currently ranks higher. I had the same problem with Payzip a little while back, where some negative news stories unrelated to our product were showing up on the first SERP.
Maybe a name change would be a good idea this early on in Multy's life? "Polylink" does the job and only had chemical manufacturing results on the SERP.
