i have the basics .. what to do now !
hello gang , i learned web dev basic by my self no guides no supervisors or mentors that's why i m so confused now on what to do exactly ! how to mix everything i learned .. i am afraid to start freelancing coz i always think i am not ready yet !!
started my journey leaning the very basics HTML CSS JS and some PHP then i took it to another level leaning some frameworks like Laravel and Vuejs i made a simple blog using laravel and that was my very first try then i made a task management web app using vue and laravel in an internship ...
now i am learning Flutter ...
but i dont know what i am missing ! i just feel not good enough for anything !
I think you're missing the practice time and some validation, keep building stuff, launch, ask for feedback. If your goal is to get a job, go for it, but also work on side projects.
The web dev domain is huge, you won't be able to cover everything, even as a senior dev with 10y+ of experience you'll feel like an imposter at times.
You are missing the experience that comes with the application of your knowledge. That is what will build your self-confidence, as well as, your portfolio.

HI, @HEK everything sells if you can sell it properly. However, for the newbie developers, I would suggest you focus on WordPress themes and plugins. When you are able to master those skills, you can move to the Laravel framework.
I like the comment that everything will sell if you know how to sell it. However, I would respectfully disagree about Wordpress. 🙂
Honestly, with Wordpress, oftentimes you will get sucked into repairing or maintaining a dumpster fire of a codebase, that someone else has put together in a hurry to make some shitty e-commerce site or blog work.
When you are just at the start of your career, you have the power of choice. In life, there is no ladder to climb. You don't have to start with shitty, so that you can move on to less shitty, so that you can move on to even less shitty, so that one day you will work on a high quality codebase.
Start hanging out with people who are great devs, working on great codebases with test coverage and sane programming languages, and try to be of help, or just blog about your experience. Just blog about how you admire what they do, and what you learned today. Simple as that.
If you can't immediately get a job in those positions, ask for an unpaid internship. The learning will be soo much worth it. And nowadays, people expect to instantly get rewarded that no-one is willing to do that. Sell ice cream to make money, but don't work on shitty stuff. In 3 years you will find yourself working in a high quality team, on a high quality codebase, and the guy who decided to climb the ladder from shitty to less shitty, will still be wrestling with somewhat shitty.
The reason I am making this rant is the following truth: it takes more brain, more energy, and all around more skill to work on a shitty codebase than to work on a great one.
As a senior developer surrounded by other senior developers, working on a good codebase at the moment, and getting paid well to do it, my life is 1000 times easier that the life of a guy trying to repair a broken Wordpress site, for a fraction of the money.
I've been on both ends of the spectrum, and I come from a very humble background.
As a final note, I am not generalizing or implying that everyone who works on Wordpress is not a good developer, it's just that the majority of the job postings suck.
