I just can't relax anymore

I used to go out a lot with my friends mostly spending money on restaurants, or the movies. I used to come back home listen to the JRE podcast, scroll a lot of Social Media.

However, after covid hit a lot of things changed, for starters I became more obsessed with finding success with my side projects (1 failed; 2 almost-abandoned products; 1 ongoing).

And pretty much because of that I either think of the stock market, play some youtube before bed and that has pretty much been it.

I still meet my friends every day for a cuppa tea but it still isn't the same anymore, I always feel pressured to work all the time.

I still work full time at my day job, and often compare myself to my seniors and classmates who were fortunate enough to quit their day job and then figure out their hustle.

It was suddenly declared a holiday today and I still can't think about anything to do except watch a video of someone deploying a Next JS app to AWS Lamda or waste my time on porn.

I constantly feel anxious which is why I've been meditating for the past 2 years and one unplanned holiday peeked my anxiety. What do you do to take your mind off IndieHacking?

It seems you think you are relaxing while gaming, movies, notion. But these are play not rest.

Get more non-screen hobbies. Give your senses time to relax, not just meditation.

      Thanks, Andy. Will do!

    Having been through the struggle myself, here are some things that helped me;

    1. Go to the gym and set goals. I can't put into words how much going to the gym has improved my life. Working on yourself and getting to know your own body on a different level is life-changing.
    2. Find a hobby outside of your work scope and plan in time in your day to do what you love. Do you like gaming? Play some games! Always wanted to play guitar? Start figuring out how!
    3. Stop comparing. Change your perspective from comparing to learning. How were they able to quit their job? Is it something you could/want to replicate? Everyone's journey is unique, so stop wasting time on comparing and start writing your own journey.
    4. Create systems for yourself. I find that if I plan on three must-do's for a day, I deliver my best work. Besides that, I only add tasks to my list that can wait another day if needed, but it would be great to get to them.
    5. Journal, get thoughts out of your head and on a paper (or screen). Ideas? Write them down. Thoughts? Write them down. Worries? Write them down? Fears? Write them down. Highlights? Write... Them... Down!

    And as @HansDR pointed out:

"Remember, Indie Hacking (and life itself) is a marathon, not a sprint; give yourself permission to have down-time."

Don't hesitate to send me a message if you have any questions or just need to vent.

    • Spend time with family (especially my wife & child)
    • Pray
    • Exercise every day (so many ideas come to me while out for a walk)
    • Have a fixed time to stop working on anything before bed
    • Occasionally, go out and do something completely different
    • Remember, Indie Hacking (and life itself) is a marathon, not a sprint; give yourself permission to have down-time

There are also some things that are worth not doing:

    • Reading the news (it's all fear-mongering propaganda these days)
    • Comparing yourself to others all the time (hint: plenty of others are financially stressing themselves out buying stuff to appear rich and successful; social media is filled with highlights, hiding the suffering that's part of life; and everyone has a unique journey through life)
    • Getting overly frustrated when things don't go as planned, because things rarely do go as planned.

One final suggestion: read "Positive Intelligence" by Shirzad Chamine. It'll help you get that judge and other saboteurs under control.

Thanks HansDR I do workout every single day and I get sad if I don't! I'll add Positive Intelligence to my list! 🙏

I don't know why, but the foot massage is one of my unloved. I just don't feel any relaxation while doing it and even afterward. I found the alternative I have chosen for myself in tantric massage london. Their erotic massage, body-to-body massage - I just can't describe it by words how enjoyable this is. The masseuse women that work here are amazing! They definitely know what they are doing. And the last point I loved in tantric massage london[/url] is the variety of services they offer to the clients. Here you'll find everything your soul desires!

Instead of meditation, watching videos, thinking about others - try to focus on your side projects and work on them.
