I just launched a book!

Update: this is now the #1 Best Seller book on Amazon in the Software Development category. ๐Ÿคฏ

Hello Indie Hackers! ๐Ÿ‘‹

I never thought I'd say this, but - yes - I just published a book!

14 Habits of Highly Productive Developers is now available for everyone.

It's everything I know about productivity, tech career, and side projects into one package. I spent 3 months writing this, 1 month working on the launch, and 10+ years living these ideas.

To be honest, I never wanted to write a book, but I believe that being a developer is more than knowing the hottest tools.

You can learn the most popular frameworks, use the best programming languages, and work at the biggest tech companies, but if you cultivate bad habits, it will be hard for you to become a top developer.

Because of that, I decided to reach out to the best developers I know and ask them tips on how to be more productive.

I went after tech giants such as Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. Powerful startups such as Spotify, GoDaddy, and Shopify. All the way to established organizations such as Citibank and The New York Times.

This book is a collection of valuable learnings not only from me but from experienced programmers from all over the world.

I hope you like it :)

Let me know if you have any questions! I'm here to answer every single one of them.

    Hi Zeno,

Congrats on the launch! Great looking website, and the book sounds very interesting.

Is it possible for you to make a PDF version for Gumroad? That's my preferred ebook format, and I can see you made the preview chapter available in PDF (with very nice formatting I might add). I would totally buy this if I could get it in PDF in addition to ePub. Or maybe if I buy it on Gumroad, could you make a PDF version just for me ๐Ÿ™? But I have a feeling other buyers would appreciate it too.

Hey @stevenkkim thank you so much!

Some people are asking for a PDF version too, so I'll definitely check that out. I still need to investigate how to export a PDF, but if you purchase through Gumroad I'll share the PDF there once it's done.

I just bought it on Gumroad. Can't wait to read it!

That's awesome @JeroenSchieven! I'm super happy to hear that you're already half way through it.

Just curious, did you buy through Amazon or Gumroad?

      1. 1

Through Gumroad as I thought it would leave you some extra commission in your pocket.

          Thank you so much!

    Hows the launch feel?

It's very insane. In fact, the book just hit the #1 Best Seller on Amazon which is pretty insane! https://www.amazon.com/gp/new-releases/digital-text/156145011/ref=zg_b_hnr_156145011_1

Congrats! Very curious how this will turn out for you โ€” do you have a specific marketing strategy?

    The website looks great btw!

I think I'm going to create a dedicated page here on IndieHackers.

In terms of marketing strategy, I'd say the core of everything was building in public.

      1. A couple of months earlier I announced that I was going to write this book
      2. Later on, I created a site with very minimal information, but this helped to start an email list
      3. Three weeks before the launch, I opened a pre-launch on Amazon which also helped to generate some hype
      4. On launch day, I posted about the book EVERYWHERE - Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram, Product Hunt, Hacker News, Indie Hackers

      Transparency is the key.

    Be careful with this book!
It pretends to bring tech tips, but in fact this book changes the way you think about your own life and career.

Thanks for helping with everything @bernarddeluna!

    Congratulations Zeno!
