Would love feedback from fellow bootstrappers .
Whatβs working for you to get your first 10 paying users?
Congrats Amine! Getting the first paying customer out on day one is a solid start β especially with how much you've already got in place (GA4, trial β paid emails, SEO, tutorials, etc.).
For the first 10 users, I'd probably go much narrower than βmarketingβ and hunt for the exact type of user who has the strongest pain around invoicing. Since you're targeting freelancers + small agencies, I'd pick one niche first β dev agencies, design studios, etc. β and build the acquisition/message around them. One repeatable channel is worth way more at this stage than trying to be everywhere.
If you're looking for a helping partner, I'm open to it; I can take a proper look at PortaFact and share a few acquisition loops I'd test first.
Thanks β really appreciate the thoughtful take π
You're right about going narrow. That matches what I'm seeing: my strongest early signal comes from freelancers & small agencies invoicing international clients β often across currencies β where most tools either cap invoices or overcharge for the basics. That's the wedge I'm focusing on: unlimited invoicing from $5/mo, worldwide.
After our Product Hunt launch on Aug 25, I plan to double down on one niche + one repeatable channel and measure trialβpaid properly before spreading out.
Speaking of the launch β if you're up for supporting with an upvote + short comment on Aug 25, that would mean a lot. I'll share the link the day before. YES/NO? π
On the partner side: I'm keeping things solo for now, but happy to swap notes after the launch once I have real acquisition data.
All the best for the launch!
In high school, I did freelance digital artwork, so I understand the pain point that your product tackles. And sure - send me the link on launch day; maybe email it to me at devanshugiri@wolfonyxmedia.com
I will try the product myself and give my feedback.
If you want help post-launch, we can always pick up the conversation and see if there's a good fit.
Thank you Devansh β that means a lot
Freelance artwork in high school is exactly the pain PortaFact is built for: send the work, send the invoice, actually get paid.
Iβll email you the Product Hunt link the day before (Aug 24). If you get a chance to try the product before then, Iβd love your honest feedback:

Happy to pick up the post-launch conversation too π
1 paying customer on day one makes this more interesting than most launch posts. Curious what brought that first customer to PortaFact.
Thanks! It came through a personal connection β a friend I'd mentioned the project to during development became my first paying customer. He's a freelancer who was manually tracking invoices and chasing late payments in spreadsheets.
A few things sold him fast: the automatic J+7/J+15 payment reminders (no more awkward "hey did you see my invoice" follow-ups), secure payment links built into each invoice so clients can pay directly without back-and-forth, and multi-currency support since he bills clients in different currencies. He also liked that he could try it 14 days with no card required, so there was zero friction to test it on a real invoice.
Nothing scalable yet on acquisition β just word of mouth from someone close to the problem. Now trying to figure out how to replicate that with strangers :)
Thatβs a good first signal, especially since the customer already had the problem firsthand. The harder part will be seeing whether that same urgency shows up with strangers. If youβre open to continuing the conversation, whatβs the best email to reach you at?
Totally fair point β replicating urgency with strangers is exactly the hard part I'm trying to figure out.
Happy to keep chatting β feel free to DM me here, or reach out at contact@portafact dot com if that's easier.
Thanks! Iβve just sent it over.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts whenever you have a chance.
