I recently started blogging on my own website: https://blog.toppocketmedia.com
Which I'll admit went better than I thought but with such a small following on social media I wasn't really driving much traffic to the website, usually only a couple of visits per day but more on days I posted.
I was originally posting once per day but I couldn't find much to post about so I changed my schedule to every Monday at 10:00 with only short straight to the point posts usually only 500 to 1000 words long.
After doing my own blog for a while I thought I would re-post a few of the best performing posts on to medium as the audience is already there and the potential for monetising the posts seemed greater than on my own site.
I've just posted 3 articles on medium but I'm not sure how I can reach more people with them.
Here is my medium profile: https://medium.com/@benjamingjd04
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I would recommend you to get into a habit of writing daily. This doesn't mean you need to publish something everyday but getting into a routine of just writing 100 words every day can literally change your life in short time.
Also you can learn the basics of SEO and optimise your keywords and title to match what people search for on Google.
On Medium you can also alway reach out to publications and submit your article to be published there. This doesn't mean that you will always reach thousands of people if a publication shares your post but it can help out a lot. Don't worry, even if you publish your post in a publication, it will still be owned by you and if you monetize it you will still get all the earnings.
One last tip I can give you is to read a lot on Medium and learn techniques other writers use to improve your own writing. Learn how they use images, structure their articles, how they choose their titles, ...
But most importantly: stay consistent and you will reach people over time.
Thank you for the comment. I've started writing the 100 daily words which I've sort of merged with 100 Days Of Code that I am currently doing and writing more in-depth about what I have done. As well as some more blog posts, I think at this point I have enough to schedule 1 per week for a year as I already had quite a big backlog. Potentially this is enough to do twice a week.
After sharing this post I seemed to have a massive surge in visits to my blog but not many clicks on actual posts which I'm not sure is because the images for the posts aren't appealing or because of the look of the entire website.
Hey @Benjamingjd - great content.
If you want to get more traction for your blog, consider emailing your subscribers to state why each post is relevant to them. That may be helpful since your content is on different topics, and your readers may be interested in only some of them.
If you want to write quality emails to engage with your subscribers, check out my new website: Splashpad: https://www.getsplashpad.com/. It helps you write emails that sell by suggesting language as you write.
My mailing list isn't really something I've been promoting at all and at the moment doesn't have anyone subscribed to it. But I'm planning to start promoting it more and pushing out content over email
Gotcha. When you start promoting it, send me one of your emails. I would be happy to run it through SplashPad and see if we can give you a boost.
Will do. Thank you
