I just went live with Bristlecone, a niche copywriting service, after 6 weeks in dev mode. https://getbristlecone.com/
It’s aimed at busy startup founders/marekting professionals looking to outsource their evergreen content creation.
A few early observations on building effective services and landing pages:
Be quick: validation ≠ optimization. Nothing should be perfect, but everything should work.
Be cheap: there are lots of cool tools out there. When validating, pick the ones that allow for negligible cost of failure. Total startup cost for Bristlecone: $CAD 238
Be niche: There are thousands of online copywriting services. There are only a handful of evergreen copywriting services. For solopreneurs/small teams, the nicher the better.
Be clear: I went trough dozens of iterations before landing on the current copy. Clever copy can work, but it needs to be REALLY clever. For every other instance, WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get).
Be vocal: Having a live service/product isn’t even half the battle. It’s 1/10th. The most important part is what comes next: marketing.
I’ll be sharing more details on each of these observations as well as documenting my progress over on twitter: https://twitter.com/tkgnguyen.
