Talented developers with strong projects, real skills, and years of experience were sending dozens — sometimes hundreds — of job applications and getting very few responses.
At first, I thought it was just competition.
Then I thought maybe the market changed.
But the deeper I looked, the more I realized something strange:
Sometimes people aren’t losing to other candidates.
They’re losing to systems.
I started researching ATS platforms and modern hiring workflows. The deeper I went, the more interesting it became. Resume structure mattered. Positioning mattered. Wording mattered. Signals mattered.
Two people could have almost identical experience.
One looked like an average candidate.
The other looked highly relevant.
Not because their skills were different.
Because the system interpreted them differently.
That curiosity eventually turned into CVBoosta.
Originally there was no startup plan. No roadmap. No “let’s build an AI company.”
I simply wanted to understand why talented people were disappearing somewhere inside hiring pipelines.
Now I’m building a product around that problem and learning a lot along the way.
One thing surprised me:
Most users don’t actually have a skill problem.
They often have a communication problem.
Curious if anyone else here has built products after falling into a research rabbit hole.
Did your startup start intentionally — or by accident?
