Hi everyone,
Over the last few weeks I’ve been building a small side project called JobMatch.
The idea came from a problem I kept noticing when people apply for jobs.
Many candidates send dozens (sometimes hundreds) of applications without really knowing if their CV actually matches the role. At the same time, recruiters often mention receiving huge volumes of applications where the candidate clearly doesn’t fit the requirements.
So I started wondering: what if you could quickly compare your CV with a job description before applying?
The tool is very simple right now:
You paste
• your CV
• the job description
And it analyzes both texts to generate:
• a match score
• missing skills
• potential gaps between your profile and the role
• suggestions on how the CV could better reflect the job requirements
The goal isn’t to “game ATS systems”, but to help people understand whether they realistically fit a role and what they might want to tweak before applying.
Right now it’s still a very early MVP and I’m mostly trying to validate whether this is actually useful for job seekers.
Some questions I’m thinking about:
• Is a match score actually helpful or misleading?
• What kind of feedback would be most useful in this situation?
• Would you use something like this before applying to a job?
If anyone here wants to try it or share feedback, I’d really appreciate it.
Curious to hear what other builders think.
I think its helpful - but lots of people i know already do this directly with chatgpt or claude. there is also something similar directly embedded in LinkedIn jobs for example. personally dont think there is a need for a dedicated tool.
Happy to answer any questions about the idea or how the tool works.
Also very open to brutally honest feedback. I'm still trying to understand whether this is actually useful for people during a real job search.
