I know you're busy, so I made a video editor for indie hackers. I'm giving away video tokens in exchange for feedback.

Preface

Hi fellow hackers,

I'm not going to go over the importance of using video in your messages/online presence. You already know that too well.

You're bootstrapping, have to handle a gazillion issues, and there's only 24 hours in a day. And apparently, of those, you should spend 8 sleeping... So when will you have time to tackle video creation as well?

That's where my app comes in -- it will help you achieve the most results, in the least amount of time. Simple, but not simplistic. Fast as hell. Instant preview - everywhere.

Your thoughts

I've spent nearly 3 years building this. So behind the app's simplicity is a LOT of sweat, to make this this simple, and this fast. But enough about me...

I'd deeply appreciate you guys trying it out. Let me hear it -- the good, the bad, and the ugly...

As a thank you for your feedback, I will be giving away 5 video tokens to each hacker that gives me meaningful feedback -- either public, or via email.

What's a video token?

In short, a video token allows you to generate a video without a watermark. It's part of my "Pay for what you use" licensing idea. To quote myself:

When you buy tokens, Cinematic Studio will function as if you're subscribed to our PRO version. However, there are no recurring payments -- just the one you're making now. Exporting the video, by default, will add a watermark. Export until you're 100% happy with the result. At that point, click 'Use Token' button -- this will export the video without the watermark.
Each 'Use Token' will use one of the tokens you've bought now, until they are depleted.

Windows only for now

Yeah, that might come as a surprise to some. I know a lot of you are diehard fans of Mac. Well, I do want to port it there in the near future, it's a really long story why I chose to go with Windows for now. If you're interested, ask me in the comments :)

P.S. Here's a sneak preview:

Sneak Peak

A desktop app, quite nice :)

One question though: Ignoring your smallest monthly pricing package, at that price point, why shouldn't I just go with Premiere Pro, which (probably) has a lot richer feature set and costs around the same amount. To me, it doesn't make much sense at all.

Especially when considering that there are a lot of free or one-time apps like Davinci Resolve, Hitfilm Express, Filmora & more.

      Thanks for the question!

This is about saving you time -- if you're an expert video editor, by all means, go with Premiere.

However, if you want to use something that's really intuitive and blazingly fast (and with the risk of repeating myself, has instant preview everywhere), then you'll love my app. And just because I've made the app beyond simple, it doesn't mean it's not packed with features -- I mean, just think about Keyframes -- something only top apps have (btw, Filmora's keyframes are a joke)

I've put an insane amount of effort to optimize for both speed and simplicity, and whatever feature I add, is with these things in mind.

For the reasons above, I do believe my app gives you a lot of value, for the price you'd pay.

Finally, please try it and let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

Go @johnt2021! I like the token idea - that’s smart!

Thanks, will see how the community likes it :)
