I launched a free ATS resume checker — here's what I learned building it

The problem I was solving:
Most people don't know their resume is failing automated screening before any human sees it. ATS systems score resumes on keyword density, title matching, and format parsability — none of which are obvious when you're just writing a resume.

What I built:
A free tool at resumecrafterai.com/ats-checker — paste your resume + job description, get a score and specific fixes. No account, no email, just results.

The interesting technical bit:
Pure keyword matching gives too many false negatives ("Python developer" vs "Python dev"). We run a semantic pass on top to handle synonyms and variations. The tricky part was calibrating confidence thresholds so we don't over-match and inflate scores.

Where I am:
Day 8 post-launch. 17 blog articles indexed. First GSC impressions showing up. 0 signups yet — still in the "getting discovered" phase.

Happy to talk ATS algorithms, Next.js App Router architecture, or growth strategies for tools-first SaaS.
