I launched Grindoro — a Pomodoro app where focus feels less lonely

I’m working on Grindoro because focus often feels lonely, especially when you’re building, studying, or working on personal goals by yourself.

Most Pomodoro apps are just private timers. I wanted to create something that makes focus feel more alive — like joining a shared daily ritual instead of simply pressing “start”.

Grindoro combines synchronized Pomodoro sessions, tasks, routines, goals, XP, coffee energy, and weekly cafés to help people build consistency in a more motivating and human way.

I recently launched the iOS version and I’d love feedback from other indie hackers:

Does the “focus together” idea make sense?

What feels most interesting or confusing?

Would you use something like this for deep work or habits?

The synchronized sessions are the part that stood out. There are plenty of timers but very few that make showing up at the same time feel like the product instead of a side feature.

I kept picturing someone asking ChatGPT how to stay focused when working alone and finding Grindoro before they've heard the name. What they'll quietly look for is whether it feels like a real place people return to every day or just another productivity app with a timer.

I'm curious if you've noticed early users talking about the people they focused with more than the Pomodoro sessions themselves.

What stood out to me is that you're not trying to build a better timer.

You're trying to change how people experience focus. If users start opening Grindoro because they want to feel accountable rather than because they need a Pomodoro timer, that's a much stronger position than competing on productivity features.

Thank you! this is exactly the direction I’m trying to explore.

I don’t want Grindoro to compete as just another Pomodoro timer. Timers are easy to copy. The more interesting challenge is creating a feeling: starting a session should feel like joining a shared rhythm instead of trying to focus alone.

Accountability is a big part of that, but I also want it to feel light and motivating through coffee energy, XP, and weekly cafés.

Really appreciate this — it helps me sharpen the positioning.

I think that's the part I'd keep pulling on.

Reading your reply made me realize there's an implication of that positioning that isn't immediately obvious, but it could influence a surprising number of decisions as Grindoro evolves.

It deserves more context than I can do justice to in a thread.

If you're open to it, what's the best email to reach you on?
