I'm Altaaf Hamod, also known as MrVampCruz — a solo developer from Mauritius. A few days ago I officially launched Budgetify: Money Manager on Google Play, and I wanted to share the story here.

Why I built it

I wanted a finance app that was simple, private, and genuinely useful without forcing me to create an account or hand over my financial data to a server somewhere. I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, so I built it.

What it does

💸 Multi-wallet management — assets (cash, bank, crypto) and liabilities (credit cards, loans) in one place with real-time net worth across 150+ currencies.
🔄 Recurring transactions — salaries, subscriptions, rent — auto or manual posting at your own pace.
🔐 AES-256 encrypted backups — local (free) or Google Drive (Pro). Only you can open them.
📈 Spending charts, custom categories, labels, and balance privacy mode.
🆓 A genuinely useful free tier — not a crippled demo.
100% offline. No account. No servers. No tracking.

The stack

React Native & Expo, SQLite, RevenueCat for subscriptions, Google AdMob for the free tier, and Google Drive REST API for cloud backups. Built and shipped entirely by me.

Monetisation

Subscription-based with a free ad-supported tier. Premium plans unlock unlimited wallets, charts, Google Drive backup, and more. There's also a Lifetime Pro option for people who hate subscriptions — with a launch discount still active.

Where I am now

Launched on Google Play on April 2nd. Early response has been encouraging. iOS is on the roadmap. I'm actively working on new features based on user feedback — savings goals, fingerprint lock, wallet budgeting, and more.
