I Launched My First Product: "The 5-Minute Product Description" Toolkit.

Hey Indie Hackers,

After a lot of work and a few false starts, I'm incredibly excited (and a little nervous) to share my very first product with you all.

The Problem:

For anyone who's ever tried to run an e-commerce store, you know there are a million things to do. For me, the absolute worst part was writing product descriptions. I'm a maker at heart, not a copywriter. I would stare at a blank page for hours, and everything I wrote sounded robotic and uninspired. I knew this was costing me sales.

The "Aha!" Moment:

I decided to stop fighting my weakness and use my strengths. I dove headfirst into ChatGPT to see if I could build a "system" to do it for me. It wasn't about a simple prompt; it was about engineering a persona, giving it a strict structure, and teaching it to focus on benefits over features.

The Solution: "The 5-Minute Product Description"

The result is a simple PDF toolkit that I'm officially launching today. It's built for other makers, Etsy sellers, and Shopify owners who are tired of struggling with copy. It's the tool I wish I had on day one.

Here’s a real example of the kind of "before and after" it can produce:

I've launched it on Gumroad, and this community is the first place I'm sharing it. I would be incredibly grateful for any feedback, thoughts, or questions you have.

Thanks for reading. It feels great to finally ship something!

    Big step, congrats!
What's the business model you think on this product? and how you want to get first 100 customers? from community?

    1. 1

Hey, thank you so much! Great questions.

Business Model: Right now, it's a one-off sale. The long-term vision is to build a trusted "CreatorStack" of tools, then maybe explore bundles or a subscription model later.

First 100 Customers: My strategy is to stop selling directly and earn trust first. I'm attracting Etsy sellers with a free SEO tool (via Pinterest) to build an email list, then offering this paid product to that warm audience.

Curious if you've seen this kind of funnel work well?

  2. 1

yeah it was good . and it auto format . nice bro keep it up

    1. 2

Awesome, thanks so much, man! I'm so glad you pointed out the formatting. That was the whole goal to make it a true 'copy and paste' solution without any clean up. Appreciate the good vibes!

      1. 1

Totally get that — I recently built something similar in spirit around simplifying painful workflows, but for tracking SaaS tools in teams (called CancelMates). It's been wild how much a small UX touch like auto-formatting or reminders can make or break the experience. Anyway, love your approach — rooting for your launch!

        1. 1

Thanks so much for the kind words.

You're so right, the small UX details make all the difference. It's cool to hear we're both focused on simplifying painful workflows in our own ways.

Appreciate the support and rooting for you too!

  3. 1

That definitely seems like a clever way to sharpen your product messaging! A concise product description can increase conversions. Excited to see how this helps founders communicate value more effectively.

    1. 1

That's so kind of you, I love how you phrased that , 'sharpen your product messaging' is the perfect way to describe it.

It's the exact problem I was trying to solve for myself and other founders. We can get so deep into building that we forget how to communicate the value simply.

Since you're clearly thinking about this too, I'm curious: what's been your biggest challenge when it comes to messaging for your own projects?"

  4. 1

Huge congrats on shipping your first product—what an exciting milestone! 🚀 I love that you didn't settle for generic AI prompts and instead built a structured, thoughtful solution around ChatGPT. The "before and after" comparison is brilliant—super smart way to showcase value. As someone who's been deep in the AI prompt engineering space for the past year, I can tell you're onto something big. Product descriptions are just the tip of the iceberg though. We've found that the same structured approach works incredibly well for email sequences, social media content, sales pages, and even customer support responses. Actually, we just launched a collection of 100+ battle-tested prompts that includes your product description framework plus prompts for every other business need. The results have been incredible—one agency client increased their content output by 500% and saw 25% higher email response rates. Would love to share a few complementary prompts with you and the community here. Anyone interested in seeing how this approach scales beyond product descriptions? Happy to send some samples!

    1. 1

Wow, thank you so much for the incredibly thoughtful comment and the congrats! Coming from someone deep in the prompt engineering space, that validation means a ton.

You're absolutely right that this is just the tip of the iceberg , this structured approach has massive potential. My whole philosophy with this first product was to solve one specific, painful problem perfectly, rather than trying to solve every problem at once. I figured if I can nail product descriptions for founders, that builds a solid foundation of trust for whatever comes next.

It's an exciting space to be in! Really appreciate you stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

  5. 1

    Congrats on the launch!
Building a product is tough work but promoting might be just as hard. This is perfect for developers who are stuck writing repetitive descriptions. I love that the tool focuses on benefits over features.
What are your next steps for this tool outside of just product descriptions?

    1. 1

Thanks so much, Totally agree, promotion can be tougher than building. Glad the 'benefits over features' focus resonated!

Right now, I'm focused on perfecting this tool, but I'm definitely thinking about what's next, like prompts for email or landing pages. Curious, what's the next writing task you'd want to automate?

  6. 1

Huge congrats on shipping your first product—what an exciting milestone! 🚀🎉
It's awesome to see makers solving real pain points, especially when it comes to something as tricky as writing product descriptions. Even for developers, crafting compelling copy can be a serious hurdle.

I love that you didn’t settle for generic AI prompts and instead built a structured, thoughtful solution around ChatGPT. The “before and after” comparison is a brilliant way to showcase the value—super smart and user-friendly.

Curious how you’re planning to stand out as AI tools keep evolving so quickly. Are you collecting user feedback or data to help shape v2? That kind of insight could be a game-changer, especially for small shop owners looking for leverage.

    1. 1

Thank you so much. It means a lot. You've hit on the million-dollar question!

My plan to stand out is by being closer to the customer than anyone else. I'm not trying to build a giant, generic AI tool. I'm focused on solving very specific problems for shop owners.

And yes, 100%! Conversations and feedback like this are everything for shaping V2. That's my real competitive edge."

  7. 1

Congrats! The before/after transformation in your example is pretty impressive. One thing I'm curious about - have you thought about expanding this beyond just product descriptions?

    1. 2

Thank you so much. Glad you liked the before/after, that's where the magic really shows.

And yes, absolutely! The big vision is a whole toolkit for founders. But first, I want to make sure I nail this one problem perfectly. What other writing task would you want to see this handle next?"

      1. 1

I'd personally love to see this tackle email subject lines. They're another one of those 'small but crucial' pieces that can make or break performance, and most of us just wing it or use the same tired formulas.

        1. 1

That's a brilliant suggestion. Subject lines are a huge pain point and exactly the kind of tool I want to build next.

I'm going to work on a prompt for this. Mind if I reach out to you for feedback when it's ready?

  8. 1

Congrats on the launch! Curious — are you planning Slack integration? That’s what made the biggest difference for our HR SaaS.

    1. 1

That's a fantastic question, it's really interesting to hear that Slack integration was such a game-changer for your SaaS.

Right now, CreatorStack is designed as a simple, powerful toolkit, a PDF and Google Doc that anyone on a team can use instantly without needing a new login or setup. The goal was maximum ease-of-use from the get-go.

But you've touched on a brilliant point about workflow integration. As I think about the future and potentially evolving this into a more interactive web tool, making it accessible from places like Slack is definitely something I'll keep in mind. Really appreciate you sharing what's worked for you!"

  9. 1

Congrats on shipping your first product. That’s a huge milestone! 🎉
Totally feel you on the struggle with product descriptions. Even as a developer, writing good copy can be a real roadblock. Love that you leaned into ChatGPT and built a structured solution around it instead of settling for generic prompts.

The “before and after” idea is such a smart way to showcase value. Wishing you lots of success with this launch!

    1. 1

Thank you so much. That really means a lot. It's so good to hear I'm not the only one who hits that 'copy roadblock'. Appreciate you stopping by and for the kind words!"

  10. 1

Congrats on shipping! 🚀 Curious, how are you planning to differentiate this toolkit as AI tools evolve fast? Love seeing makers solve real pain points—are you collecting user data to refine v2? This could unlock serious leverage for small shop owners.

Excited to see where you take it!

    1. 1

      That's a fantastic question.

My plan for differentiation is deep curation, not raw tech. The value is a tested, reliable workflow that saves makers time.

And yes, absolutely. Version 2 will be built entirely on direct feedback from my first customers. Their real-world needs will guide everything.

Appreciate you thinking so strategically about this.

      1. 1

By the way, your idea is really helpful for people if executed well. Keep it up and you will see results better day by day.

        1. 1

Thank you so much. That's my entire focus right now. Appreciate the motivation and the kind words more than you know!

  11. 1

Congratulations! Thank you so much for sharing your story — it was truly inspiring and gave me a lot of insight. We’re thinking of something similar for our product.

    1. 1

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! It means a lot that the story resonated with you.

That's awesome that you're thinking of a similar solution for your product, you should absolutely go for it! Wishing you the best of luck with it.

  12. 1

    Congratulations!

  13. 1

Congrats on the launch! At Accio AI, we're building B2B AI solutions for procurement, so we know firsthand how crucial product descriptions are. This toolkit looks like it could be a game-changer for busy founders.

Love that you're solving a real pain point - keep up the great work!

    1. 1

Thanks so much for the kind words! It means a lot coming from another AI founder. You're spot on, it's one of those pain points that seems small but can be a huge time-sink.

"Game-changer for busy founders" is exactly what I was aiming for. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment. All the best with Accio AI!

      1. 1

Really appreciate that! It's amazing how these 'small' tasks can eat up so much creative energy. Wishing you great success with the launch - if you ever want to brainstorm AI applications for e-commerce, would love to connect. Cheers to solving the unsexy but essential problems!

        1. 1

Cheers to solving the unsexy but essential problems! That's where the real value is.

Thank you so much for the offer to connect! I'd definitely be up for that down the line. Really appreciate it

  14. 1

Congratulations on launching. The biggest step.

  15. 1

Congrats on shipping my friend! That's the first and most important step :)

    1. 1

Sure it is, my friend. Thank you so much.

  16. 1

what other tools did you use? just chatgpt and gumroad?

    1. 1

Great question! The stack is intentionally super lean. The core engine is ChatGPT (GPT-4) for all the prompt engineering and testing.

For the product itself, I used Canva to design the PDF toolkit and the product mockups, and Gumroad is handling the sales and delivery.

That's pretty much it! Trying to keep it simple and focused for now.

  17. 1

This is awesome, congrats on launching! I’m curious, how do people typically use the PDF in their workflow? Do they copy/paste directly into their store listings, or do you envision it evolving into something more interactive later on?

    1. 1

That's an excellent question, thanks for asking!

Right now, the workflow is designed to be as simple and low-friction as possible. Inside the PDF, there's a link to a Google Doc with the master prompt. The idea is you copy that, paste it into ChatGPT, add your product's specific details, and then you can copy the final, polished description directly into your Etsy or Shopify listing. It's all about getting a great result in under 5 minutes without needing another app or subscription.

As for the future, you've hit on something I've been thinking about a lot! Down the road, I could definitely see this evolving into a more interactive tool or a simple web app. But for now, I'm really focused on making sure this core toolkit is rock-solid and genuinely saves makers time.

Nice topic to build a product on. This will be quite useful. I love starting Mvps. I have created my own too, you can see in my Github Anonymous00977

    1. 1

Thanks so much, I really appreciate that!

It's awesome to connect with another builder who loves the process of creating and launching MVPs. That's where all the magic happens. Thanks for sharing your GitHub profile! It's always inspiring to see what other people are working on. I'll definitely take a look.

Keep up the great work on your own projects!

This is a brilliant niche — love the idea of simplifying product copywriting with AI.
Curious if you've seen a bump in conversions or engagement since launching?
I just launched a free side hustle guide myself — so seeing other indie products gaining traction is 🔥.

    1. 1

Hey Jake, thanks so much! Congrats on launching your side hustle guide too, it's awesome to be shipping at the same time.

Great question! It's still super early days (literally hours into the launch!), so a bit early for conversion data. But the level of engagement and the conversations right here on this thread have been a huge, encouraging sign that the problem is real.

Seeing your launch is inspiring as well! Wishing you a ton of success.

  21. 1

Very interesting, I'll try the tool and share my thoughts soon. I don't have much experience yet, but I'm very interested in these topics.

I'd love to learn more about your needs.

    1. 1

That's very kind of you to ask, thank you!

My biggest need right now is feedback on the first-time user experience. Just knowing if the instructions are clear and if the tool is easy to use would be pure gold.

Your perspective as someone new to this is incredibly valuable. Looking forward to hearing what you think.

  22. 1

    Hey,

Congrats on launching The 5-Minute Product Description toolkit! I totally relate to the struggle of writing product descriptions — it can really hold back sales and kill momentum. Love how you leaned into your strengths and used ChatGPT creatively to solve that problem.

The idea of engineering a persona and focusing on benefits over features is a game-changer for copywriting. I’m definitely interested in checking out your toolkit and seeing how it can streamline my own product pages.

Thanks for sharing this here — excited to try it out and will share feedback soon!

Wishing you lots of success with the launch!

      Hey Kendrick,

Wow, thank you so much for this comment. It honestly made my day. You've perfectly captured the exact feeling I had that led me to build this, that feeling of momentum-kill is so real!

Seeing that this resonates with someone running a brand like FORI is incredible validation. The "persona engineering" was the key that unlocked everything for me, and I'm hoping it can do the same for you.

I would be absolutely thrilled to hear your feedback once you've had a chance to try it. Seriously, any thoughts you have would be invaluable as I'm just getting started.

Thanks again for the incredible encouragement, and wishing you all the best with FORI!

This sounds genuinely useful — I can help you set up a custom AI model trained on your own dataset, totally free.

If you genuinely find my work valuable, you're free to pay whatever feels fair — and if not, that’s completely okay too. I’m here for the experience and to raise a little support for my own startup journey.

Hey Chetan, thanks for reaching out and for the kind offer. That's a really interesting service you're providing.

For this particular project, the goal was actually to create a powerful solution using only the public-facing ChatGPT, so that any creator could use it without needing a custom model. The beauty is in its simplicity and accessibility.

Best of luck with your startup journey, it's great to see other builders in the AI space!

        1. 1

That's really kind of you, Chetan. I appreciate that a lot. I'll definitely keep you in mind.

Likewise, best of luck to you. It's great to connect with other founders on here. All the best!

          1. 1

Hey! Apologies for the confusion earlier — that first message was actually AI-generated during a test I was running on my own prompt model. Looks like it misread the intent of your post a bit.

Reading your launch story made me smile — love how you crafted a persona-driven ChatGPT system to focus on benefits, not just features.

I’ve worked on similar prompt structures and productized flows, so I totally get where you're coming from.

If you’d find it useful, I’d be happy to help test edge cases, refine your prompt structure, or shape the toolkit — no strings attached.

And if it truly adds value, you can always support me however feels fair.

Just let me know where I can chip in!

  24. 1

very cool tool, what tech stack did you use??

    1. 1

Hey Llorens, thankyou so much for the kind words!

      My tech stack is 100% no-code. I'm a maker, not a coder.

      1. Prompt Engineering: The core "engine" is built directly in ChatGPT (lots of trial and error!).

      2. Design/Packaging: I used Canva to design the PDF toolkit.

      3. Sales/Distribution: Gumroad handles all the payments and file delivery.
