I launched my SaaS app and got to $60 MRR today!

I launched my app today, codetutorai and I got to $60 MRR on day one! I was freaking out and waking up my husband super early to share the news. A SaaS product has always been my dream but after two failed projects in the last two years, I was starting to lose hope!

I offered a large launch discount and I have a large Twitter following so that definitely helped quite a bit. But for my last two SaaS projects, I never got more than 1-2 users that paid for the app so this feels like a huge success.

What should I do next? How can I retain my users and keep them happy? I need any and all suggestions!

If you want to check it out, here's the url: codetutor.ai

Great going, hoping to build a branding platform by next year

    Congrats on the milestone!

Awesome job building such a large following on Twitter. That is a huge achievement in itself. Regarding the product, it would be neat to see a video of how it works and some reviews from users who have used it. Another idea would be to add an affiliate program to help spread the word. I've seen other course creators do this and it seems to work.

Congrats on MRR! It looks like a really amazing platform.
In the future, Are you planning to provide a Udemy integration sort of thing, using what the course creators make their own coding tutorials?

Hearty Congrats! Really you have done a great job, Failures are stepping stones to Success.

Next, you want to do digital marketing. Promote on social media and external sites as much as possible. Create a coupon and share it on coupon sites that have more organic traffic. Generate backlinks to your product. You can also use newsletters sites to promote.

Submit your product to familiar sites like g2, producthunt, saashub, saassoftware, etc.,

Marketing is the backbone of all businesses so make use of it to get more users.

    Great start, good luck Randall

If you haven't launched on Product Hunt yet, you should definitely give it a try. I think your product would be a great fit for the PH audience.

I have been nervous to do this but need to! I was hoping to polish it up first

I checked out your website and it's beautiful, congratulations on the first step. One obvious problem is that your navigation bar must redirect to the same page, which is not a regular visiting habit.

Not sure I understand what you meant here about the navigation?

Congrats! Based on my own experience, the next thing I'll do is talk with them, and you'll find valuable insights more than your expectations.

BTW, any tips on how to grow a large Twitter following? That's exactly one problem for me right now. Thanks in advance!

Thank you! I’ll reach out to each user

I’ve done some of the AMA’s on IH where I’ve discussed my growth! I also have a video about it: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/how-to-build-an-engaged-audience-by-randall-kanna-b05507e829. But the biggest game changer for me was taking @dvassallo’s twitter course!

Congratulations! 🎉 I really liked your idea. Here are a few pieces of feedback I'd like to share:

    • When signing up for the first time, it might be better to direct users to a tutorial page that explains how the system works.
    • In the chat section, if you could display the messages I've sent as well, it would make it easier to distinguish the responses.
    • The same applies to the responses I receive after clicking the "Tell me how to improve" and "Debug my code" buttons.

I made some fixes based on your feedback. What would you like to see as the user text for analyze or debug code?

      1. 1

IMO, the "Tell me how to improve" and "Debug my code" texts are clear enough.
By the way, are you planning to add more courses to the catalogue? I'm going to share your platform with my junior brother. He is currently learning React :)

Thank you! Great feedback! I just put this on my board to fix asap!

Congratulations! Great to see new products launch every day. It keeps me motivated to work on my own project :)

I checked out your website and I like its clean look. All info is well laid out. Prices are very reasonable and the concept of the site is good also. There's a lot of interest in learning to code and in ChatGPT also. Bringing them together is a good idea.

Also, the fact you didn't give up but kept trying is a kudos also! Well done. I wish you all the best in the success of this one.

    Addressing your question:
    (1) if your product is very sticky, then students will keep coming back for that good experience. In your case, hopefully, the classes are all well-laid out, and easy to work through and AI is a good teacher/mentor.
    (2) LIVE person help in cases where AI gets stuck is a good idea.
    (3) Consider hosting LIVE online and offline events to get your students together. I know some companies using Circle to do this.
    (4) A monthly e-newsletter may work also.
    (5) Some kind of scholarship program based on students' good work.
    (6) Allow students to showcase their learning or the product they built.
    (7) A student community forum can also work.
    (8) Providing a certificate of completion will help their resume.
    (9) Maybe, a web badge like "A CodeTutor alumni" which they can place on their personal website will be nice.
    (10) Keep loading relevant, current, and engaging content.

    Hope these ideas help :)

Congratulations on the successful launch and achieving $60 MRR on day one! That's a fantastic start, especially after experiencing setbacks in the past. It goes to show that perseverance and learning from failure can lead to success.

As for retaining users and keeping them happy, focus on providing excellent customer support, listening to their feedback, and continuously improving your product based on their needs. Keep engaging with your audience on social media and consider creating a community around your app, where users can share their experiences, ask questions, and support each other.

Remember to celebrate your achievements and keep pushing forward. You've got this! 🎉

According to my experience, you should use data to observe your users' website access behavior and judge what your users are doing on your website.
