I launched my very first side project!

I've watched so many cool folks launch side projects. Every time I had an idea, it would either be not so great, I would lose steam, or it was so long and complicated that I never got to the finish line.

But this month, I had an idea for a small helpful checklist for people launching WordPress websites. I wrote the content, designed, and coded it in all of 8 hours and launched in two days. SUCH. A. THRILL. So..just celebrating that.

The checklist is at https://wpaudit.site :)

EDIT: I appreciate all the eyes and the comments. Thank you all so much! If someone from IH would like an audit, you can get 20% off the one-off audit with the coupon code INDIEHACKER. It'll be available till Jan 31, 2020. :)

Great Product! I would love to have a repository of checklists. There are so many cases one could need a checklist for. 👍
Love the subtle hint to hire you for the Audit!

Thank you! A repository like that would be super cool! Maybe I'll make one ;)

Thanks! Let's see if it converts at all. I shall keep y'all posted!

Two days - what a rush! I love the approach: "Here's how to DIY - too much? I can help!"
One consideration for future iterations: to convince people of the value, I'd add an approximation of how much time the average would spend to complete each check. That way, 20min here, 5min there, add up quickly - and help them understand why it's worth hiring you instead.
Enjoy celebrating - it's well deserved!

That's a good idea. I shall add it to my list of improvements. :) Thank you!!

Awesome. Congrats!! It'd be cool if you could somehow see all the checks in one screen without scrolling.

I have an idea to add something like that as a bit of a sidebar that you can open up for an overview. And a host of other improvements I hope to make in another 'release' of the site in a couple weeks. :)

    Congratulations!

I'd like to know the process of taking this from an idea to an actual MVP, and what specifically made feel you more motivated than other times ;-)

I am asking you this because reading the landing page it's evident that you had a crystal clear mind map of the product/project, and that's the most interesting part for me !

Thank you! I can for sure create a post talking about it. Thank you for the idea. ;)

Nice work. Helpful idea. I have slight criticism with the first item "language" - there's no context of why I should care about checking it and no instructions / plugin to do that (link to wordpress parameters doesn't help). That would be off-putting for most people with a wordpress site.

Hmm. You're right. That makes sense m I will add some context and fix that. It's really just a setting in your installation, but that's only helpful if your theme uses it. I'll include a plugin too. I appreciate the feedback!

Awesome! It's a great feeling when you finally overcome your own inertia and get something out the door! Keep up the great work :)

Totally! I already have ideas about how I can improve it :)

This is nice. Is your current focus on WordPress Development as a contractor or just general development in general? The reason I ask I have a side project that could use a co-leader (co-founder).

    1. 1

Currently my focus is WordPress development. But I'm open to other things! What's your side project about?

      1. 1

It's WordPress-focused, I have some existing clientele already using the service, but I'm in 2 minds about pursuing it more aggressively. My email is [email protected]. I can give you more details, and you let me know.
