I spent weeks building a medication reminder app called PillMind, and today I'm finally launching it.
The idea came from a simple problem: people often forget to take medications, vitamins, and supplements, especially when life gets busy.
While building PillMind, I focused on a few principles:
Simple setup
Reliable reminders
Clean design
Useful adherence tracking
Privacy-first experience
As an indie developer, one of the biggest challenges wasn't coding—it was figuring out how to reach users and earn their trust in a crowded app market.
I'd love feedback from fellow founders:
How do you approach marketing for consumer mobile apps when you're starting from zero users and zero reviews?

Happy to answer any questions about the development process.
I was in your shoes a few months ago. One thing that worked surprisingly well was getting my product in front of communities where early adopters actually hang out.
I started distributing launches to WhatsApp and Telegram groups filled with tech enthusiasts and early adopters in Africa/Nigeria — people who love trying new products. Got good traction from it.
If you want, I can share how I did it. Or I can do a distribution run for you to 30 active communities with screenshot proof. No upfront payment — you pay only after you see the proof. Let me know
PillMind is in a useful space, but I would not market it broadly as a “medication reminder app” at the start. That category is crowded, and with zero reviews the trust gap is the real problem.
I’d pick one narrow first audience where forgetting has a very specific cost.
For example: busy adults managing daily vitamins/supplements, caregivers helping parents stay consistent, or people starting a new medication routine.
The message should probably be less “never forget your pills” and more:
“Build a medication routine you can actually stick to.”
That feels safer and less alarmist.
For zero users and zero reviews, I’d focus less on generic app promotion and more on trust-building: simple screenshots, privacy clarity, one clear use case, and direct outreach into small communities where people already discuss routines, reminders, caregiving, or adherence.
Happy to put a tighter version in writing if useful. I’d map the first user segment, trust-first positioning, App Store angle, and a simple 7-day plan to get the first users/reviews.
