i spent one day doing nothing but commenting on other peoples IH posts. 29 comments total. heres the strategy and the results.
the strategy
target posts where my experience is relevant. cold email stories, distribution problems, zero-to-one journeys, scraping, automation. leave comments that add genuine value — share specific numbers, offer actionable advice, ask follow-up questions.
no "great post!" comments. no self-promotion in comments. just useful responses.
what happened
what i learned
commenting is the highest-ROI activity on IH for building profile visibility. each comment puts your name and avatar in front of that posts entire readership. 29 comments = 29 posts where my profile link now exists.
the compound effect: people who see your comments start recognizing your name. when they see your posts later, theyre more likely to click because youre familiar.
the math
if each commented post gets 100-500 views, thats 2,900-14,500 impressions of my profile link from one day of commenting. thats more reach than posting 5 articles.
