I left 29 comments on indie hackers posts in one day — heres what happened
i wanted to test whether commenting drives profile views which drive post views.
the theory: if you leave thoughtful comments on trending posts, people click your name, see your profile, browse your posts, maybe click a product link.
the experiment
29 comments across 15 different IH posts in one session. all genuine — asked questions, shared relevant experience, engaged with the actual content. no spam.
what i commented on
- a 15 year old who built a SaaS in 2 days (68 comments, hot post)
- freelancer pricing tools
- cold outreach stories
- distribution challenges
- build-in-public updates
every comment was relevant. shared my own experience (45 IH posts, $0 revenue, cold email disaster) where it added context. asked genuine questions. never dropped a product link in a comment.
my prediction
29 comments = 50-100 profile views = 5-10 post clicks = maybe 1 product page visit.
the math might not work for one day. but compound it over a week and it adds up.
