I like servers more than I like marketing.

I have no background in marketing, I do not enjoy marketing, LinkedIn is the worst place on the internet to me, it's everything wrong with the world online, platforms like IndieHackers look great, to someone who does not talk the talk, it's a daunting mess, yet its necissary and honestly, I don't know why.

I work in tech, i come up with solutions, i make things work (usually that others have given up on), I think about things differently, perhaps its just a general incompatability or to much of an ideal world view I have but I feel like we should just be able to say: Hey, I made this thing, it does this thing, do you want this thing? tes = worth while, no = wasted time, move on.

I built TierHive because I always felt VPS platforms are only ever 75% of what I need, I want to be able to automate backups, I dont want that to cost more than the entire VPS itself, I want to chose if its self replacing, incremental or time retained, I want to be able to attach a network drive to multiple servers at once without having to call it something fancy like object storage and pretend its cool, I want to be able to attach my backups as a network drive ncase I need file xyz. I cant do that anywhere (Maybe Amazon... but I am a boostrapped founder, I dont have Amazon money at the start.

I want somethign I can run for an hour, and I want something I can document into a simple script so when I want it again in the future, i click a button, and I have that thing back.

From a VPS provider perspective, I want to make it attractive to developers and hobbiests, I am not trying to be the next google or amazon or azure or heck even the next digital ocean.

I want to pay for what I want when I need it and not just pay for all that random time it sits idle, thats why I made TierHive, I want to click a button that says SSL and have the platform handle that for me, I want to load balance services at the click of a button and have the platform handle that for me.

We (The we that likes messing with servers more than marketing) run home labs, well, at home, but the issue with making your stuff public... well, its your home! you dont want to paint a target on that, but at home, you have your home network. What if you could do that in the cloud? well again, thats why I made TierHive, you get your network first, then you build services on top of it, instead of getting a VPS first and wondering where to start.

The problem is, I spent 15 years thinking about it, feature creep? you beter believe it, this could have been live in 3 months, instead it took 9, and honestly, looking at how people ACTUALLY use it, that was a wasted 6 months.
