I’m building a dedicated social network for AI creators as a solo dev. Here is why.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a project called Vynly (https://vynly.co), a niche social media platform specifically designed for AI-generated art and content.

As a solo developer building this from the ground up, I noticed a recurring problem: AI creators are often scattered across generic platforms like Instagram, X, or Reddit. Their work either gets buried in the noise, faces backlash from traditional art communities, or lacks the technical context that other AI creators care about (like sharing prompts, model details, or workflows).

I wanted to build a dedicated space where AI artists can truly showcase their work, use their profiles as digital portfolios, and connect with a community that actively appreciates and understands the tech.

Right now, I am tackling the classic "cold start" problem that comes with any new social network convincing those crucial first users to sign up, while also working on building the site's domain authority from scratch.

I'd love to get the community's eyes on it. If you have a moment to check it out:

The Concept/UI: What are your initial impressions of the platform's look and feel?

Growth: For those of you who have built community-driven or two-sided platforms, what was your most successful channel or strategy for acquiring your first 100-500 active users?

Thanks in advance for the feedback! Always appreciate the insights from this community.

I think this is a super cool idea. Some people, like myself, are not artistic. However, we can still imagine things and now with the help of AI we have the tools to help us make these ideas a reality. So I'm glad to see the start of a network where these peaces of art can be seen.

I’ve been thinking a lot about where social media is headed, especially with AI becoming more embedded in everything.

Most current platforms are still built around passive consumption—scrolling, liking, and algorithm-driven feeds—but I think there’s a real opportunity for AI to actually facilitate real-world connection, not just digital engagement.

That’s what I’m exploring with my current idea.

It’s a social app concept where AI helps match people locally and generate real-world “challenges” that users complete together—things that require meeting up, interacting, and doing something in real life before they can post it.

Instead of AI optimizing for screen time, it would optimize for getting people offline and into shared experiences that build actual relationships.

The goal is to take the best parts of social media (connection, discovery, sharing) but shift the core behavior from scrolling to doing.

I’m currently looking for a technical co-founder who’s interested in AI-driven consumer products and rethinking how social platforms actually shape human behavior.

Would love to connect with anyone exploring similar ideas in the AI + social space.
