I’m jacking on a social marketplace app for stylists, as a stylist you can post your outfits, catalogue your favorite pieces within wardrobes and of course sell whatever you own. The idea originally was developed from a feeling of confusion about , what was in my own clothing collection. I wanted to better understand what I owned and the worth of my entire closet.
I am interested in competing with Instagram and depop. This project started as a way for new to simply track my more expensive clothing and has developed into something different. At some points I’ve considered not entertaining the space but I still find myself wanting to hack on the project. I’ve built 70% of the app and I’m doing user interviews now. Any advice for starting a marketplace app? /
What do you think is going to be the harder side to fill? Stylists looking to make their pieces public (and sell them) or people looking for new stylist-picked clothes?
I'd probably argue #2, as you say, you are competing with every ecommerce and "stylist" store on the world, so you need to figure out how to fill up that side. Then, get a small set of stylists to work with you. I'd assume once you have customers buying, they'll come by themselves.
