I’m starting to think “overthinking” isn’t the real problem

I’ve been spending time in threads here and on Reddit, and I keep noticing the same pattern:

A lot of what people call “overthinking” doesn’t actually look like too many thoughts.

It looks more like:
someone trying to make sense of something that doesn’t feel clear yet.

Like in relationships —
“Did I do something wrong?”
“Are they pulling away?”
“Am I overreacting?”

On the surface it looks like spiraling.
Underneath, it’s more like the brain trying to resolve uncertainty.

The tricky part is that it can feel like you’re getting closer to clarity…
when really you’re just staying in motion.

I’ve been experimenting with a different way of looking at it:
instead of trying to stop the thoughts, trying to understand what the thoughts are actually reacting to.

That shift alone seems to change how people respond to what’s happening.

Still early, but I’m curious:

👉 When you’ve felt stuck in “overthinking,” did it feel more like confusion… or something else underneath it?

One thing I’m trying to figure out right now is this:

    when you’re “overthinking”…
does it feel more like confusion?

    or more like anxiety underneath?

For me it usually starts as uncertainty, then turns into overthinking.
