Hi all! I managed to earn $2,350 in my first month with Mention Tools.
All purchases were lifetime deals, it's not MRR, but I'm still happy with the result.
All I did was talk about my product in Facebook groups, Reddit and talk about build in public on my Twitter.
Today I removed the option to buy a lifetime deal and now I want to focus on increasing the income from subscriptions.
This is about my 15th project, all the previous ones have failed, so I really hope that I can bring this product to a decent income.
Congrats, that's amazing! Love the persistence here with the 15 other projects 😆, super inspiring on not giving up.
On, "All I did was talk about my product in Facebook groups, Reddit and talk about build in public on my Twitter."
How much time / effort did this take and did you automate any of it? I know Reddit can be particularly difficult to break into and somewhat fragile. How many posts were you creating on average across all channels, would you say?
Good luck and thanks for sharing!
Thank you! On average, once every 3-4 days, I posted 2-3 posts in Facebook and Reddit groups, until it became difficult to find new groups. Basically, these were groups for LTD and startups. I didn't automate it at all. I took the list of groups from here https://communitylist.me/
I tried to post different messages with and without a link. The option with a short text that I need feedback without a link to the project and a short video review showed itself well. People themselves wrote to the DM or left comments to find out the link to the project.
Congrats! Talk about successfully validating your product.
Ohh so exciting! Any ideas on how and where to promote in the future to drive even more sales?
How much did you sell for LTD?
9 sales
Hey that sounds awesome! I am interested in learning how the change to a subscription model turns out for you but my first guess would be that it will be positive since there is already some kind of adoption and willingness to pay. All the best!
Thank you very much for your support! I will share the results on Twitter https://twitter.com/AlexBelogubov
Congratulations, Alex, that's an awesome start. Crossing my fingers that it'll go well 🤞
Thanks! :)
Congrats! 👏
I'd love to hear more about it. What makes this project different?
Thanks!
The main difference is that similar products already exist, which means there is a demand. Previous projects were more unique without competitors and the demand for them was in question. Therefore, in my case, it worked that I chose an already formed niche where there are potential customers who are looking for analogues.
Interesting, that was insightful to me as I'm in a similar situation. Thanks.
Perfect Alex.
There's so much BS out there about product validation.
People spend so much time running in circles trying to validate their product idea, building landing pages, collecting email addresses etc. only to find out months later that nobody is willing to pay for it.
The ONLY true validation you need is that other businesses are making money with similar products solving the same problem.
If I can give you some advice - be aware that only pitching your product is going to cause you to stall out revenue wise.
Only a tiny percentage of your target audience is actively looking to buy the solution that you sell. You'll very quickly find out that you'll reach an upper limit of those you can a) reach and b) sell to.
It's the big problem with product hunt launches for example - the place is full of early adopters so a product can get great results on there and then the founder struggles to grow the business afterwards.
What you've got to be able to do is sell to those who aren't actively looking to buy right now. There's a ton of different ways to do it but IMHO the most effective approach (and the one that I advocate) is selling a brand new belief system to potential customers.
I talk about this indepth and provide a ton of case studies and details on this website - www.thebluntmethod.com.
Hope you find that helpful. Feel free to shout back with any questions.
Best
Chris
Thank you! It is very interesting. I will definitely check out the information on your website.
You're welcome :-)
Very interesting Alex but how do you manage to stay unique and competitive?
I communicate with my clients, ask what they lack and do it.
