I made a health-first food tracking app

Hello everyone, I've created Mogu AI, a health-first food-tracking app. Instead of relying on traditional calorie-based tracking, which can lead to an unhealthy obsession with numbers, I built this app to encourage people to pay more attention to what makes up the calories in their food and how it makes them feel.

Here's a breakdown of the app's key features:

  • Nine-Category Food Analysis: Each food is rated across nine categories to provide a holistic nutritional picture. These categories include metrics like Blood Sugar Stability, Digestive Health, Heart Health, and Whole Food Score.
  • Personalized Scoring: Users can choose different profiles, which prioritize certain categories to generate a final, personalized food score. For example, a user focused on muscle gain might have their score weighted more heavily by the Muscle Building Score, while someone else might prioritize a higher Heart Healthy Score.
  • Mindfulness Integration: The app encourages mindfulness by prompting users to log how they feel before eating. Whether you're stressed, bored, or genuinely enjoying your food, this feature helps you connect your emotions with your eating habits.
  • Bonus Points: Users can earn bonus points by logging workouts or answering mindfulness questions like, "What made you happy today?" This gamified approach promotes a positive relationship with both food and overall well-being.

Mogu AI isn't a "strict food" tracker; it's a gentle guide designed to help people make generally healthier food choices and reduce stress eating. The app uses a large language model to analyze the composition of a food item and rate it based on specific guidelines. While the model isn't perfect, it provides a reliable foundation to help users make better food decisions.

I have some exciting features planned for the future:

  • Users will be able to edit the food analysis, adding more context or correcting any inaccuracies. This will improve the AI's accuracy over time.
  • Personalized Statistics: The app will provide more insightful data to help users understand their habits, like "You eat 50% more sweets when you're stressed" or "You've eaten healthy for 3 days in a row."

I'm eager to hear your thoughts and suggestions!
