I made a Pomodoro timer with cats

I made a Pomodoro timer with cats

Hey folks!
I built a small side project — a cute little Pomodoro timer with cats called Meowdoro.

It's a free Chrome extension that helps you stay focused using the Pomodoro technique.
You can customize work/break sessions, track your stats, and even compete on a simple leaderboard.
Oh, and there’s a cat that purrs when it’s break time.

Nothing fancy — just something I wanted for myself, and decided to share.
Would love any constructive feedback or ideas on how to improve it!

Thanks for reading! 😺

    Cute landing page too :)

    If you don't mind:

    1. I see that you got 1k+ users at this moment. Did you achieve that before you "launched" here on indiehackers?

    2. And what was your tech stack?

    3. Are you a coder?

    Thanks!

      Thank you! 😊

Yes, we hit the 1000+ user mark before publishing on IndieHackers. Most of them came from smaller communities (ADHD Reddit, ProductHunt, and a few comments here and there).

The tech stack is very simple - plain HTML/CSS + vanilla JS, Figma + lots of coffee ☕

And yes, I'm a solo developer - not a professional, but I like to build small things that (hopefully) make someone's day a little better.😺

Meowdoro is super cute! Love the mix of productivity and cats — the purring on break time is a nice touch. A dark mode or more cat themes could make it even better!

Thanks, really appreciate that. Dark mode and more cat themes are great ideas — definitely something I’ll look into for the next update.

Boost your focus with cuteness! I made a Pomodoro timer featuring adorable cats to help you stay productive and take timely breaks. Each work session is paired with a cute kitty to keep things fun and motivating. Stay on track with passion and purpose!

Glad you liked the concept :)

I love it when people learn through live implementation!

Just a small piece of feedback:
When I start the timer and navigate to the settings page, the timer stops —even if I don’t make any changes there.

Also, why is the timer fixed at 33 minutes? I'm not able to edit it.

And when the cat purrs, it doesn’t seem to trigger a break timer or long break timer or anything like that.

So, there’s still a lot of work to be done on this. If you open-source the project, I’d love to contribute!

    Thank you!

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback — really appreciate it.

Yeah, the timer stopping when switching to settings is a known issue. I’ll fix it so it keeps running in the background.

Actually, the time setting should already work — you can change it manually or with the slider. Maybe it’s a device-specific issue. I’ll definitely test it more. Do you mind sharing what device you were using?

I actually designed it so that after the sound plays, the user manually starts the next stage by opening the extension. But thanks for pointing it out — in future updates, I’ll add a setting so you can choose whether to switch stages manually or automatically after the sound.

Right now I’m not planning to open-source the project, but if I decide to in the future, I’ll definitely let you know. Thanks again for the detailed feedback — it really helps a lot.

      Thanks, glad you think so!

Ed, this is absolutely purr-fect 😸

I love when a project doesn’t just solve a problem but also brings a little joy—and Meowdoro sounds like exactly that.

The purring break reminder? Genius. I didn’t know I needed that until now.

Also, the leaderboard is such a clever touch for accountability. Curious—are you planning to add social logins or a way to challenge friends?

Just installed it—looking forward to being a little more productive (and a lot more delighted). Great job! 🐾

Really appreciate the kind words — that means a lot.

Glad the little touches like the purring and leaderboard stood out. As for social logins and friend challenges — that’s a great idea. I’ve been thinking about adding something like that down the line. No promises yet, but it’s on my radar.

Thanks again for checking it out — hope it helps make your day a bit more fun and focused!

Yes I can help you to improve and grow it as well
