I made a writing tool, but not sure about how to get feedback.
I made a tool for focused writing: http://dontedit.now.sh/
The purpose of it is to limit your tendency to edit as you write. This is primarily for stream of consciousness writing where you need to get into "flow". So the app limits you with the following:
- You can only see the current line you are typing.
- You cannot exit "focus mode" until you reach your target word count.
- You can only hit backspace 3 times in a row.
My release has been like this so far:
- Show some friends.
- Show people on r/keepwriting
- Show people on r/writing
I really want to test with more users before doing a big launch on Product Hunt or Show HN. Any ideas on what I should do next? Or should I just abandon this project and do something else?
Of course, any feedback on the app itself is greatly appreciated as well!
My blog is all about you and your app just to see how it works and give you the necessary feedback that you need and it looks very lovely and skilled. The only thing i think will be of no importance to other people is that they all got some many text editor already and they are happy using it for the good tools and great functionalities it got. But good short on this and i know you can make this much better. Things to consider are, you cannot exactly predict people how long they going to write. Many people just keep writing and the funny thing is that most of this people don't count and don't even know how many words is in it. I bet you don't watch out for that either at first.. Possibly after writing your article then you check out. But will tell one thing I'm so much interested in and if you can make it work that way, i bet you can launch and make a great app from this. Design an office document like Microsoft that have various templates for writing letters, spreadsheets, and also can serve.. sorry some mistake... what i was going to suggest is create a one solution file that would serve as a text editor, like visual studio code and while typing it is progressive and save each letters or each changes all by itself but allow multiple or unlimited backspace it is really needed and can tell the amount of codes you've written. Developers will love that. Thanks. Good App.

I like it! Don't abandon it. Keep pushing. I can see how this would be useful. What's your goal with it?
I'd take the feedback you received from Reddit and anything you get from the IH forum and implement the changes. Then, promote it.
My feedback on the product:
I can still scroll in the text field. Restrict that completely so I don't get the urge to correct mistakes.
The blur effect is nice, but I expected it to come in focus once I hit the word count.
