I kept failing at expense tracking—too many taps, too much friction. So I built TallyTalk: voice-first tracking, home screen widgets, lock screen shortcuts. Just say "Spent $20 on lunch" and you're done. Would love your feedback!
I like the voice-first direction. The biggest insight here is that expense tracking fails at the input moment, not the reporting moment.
I’m working on a similar “lower the capture friction” problem from a WhatsApp angle instead of voice. My main learning so far: people like simple input, but they still need quick confirmation and a visible balance afterward, otherwise the habit feels like shouting into the void.
Curious if your users care more about speed of entry or accuracy of categorization?
"Spent 20 bucks on lunch and you're done", love the UX simplicity.
But expense tracking is a graveyard (Mint died, everyone uses Excel or corporate tools). Have you validated people will switch from their current system?
The problem isn't tracking, it's the discipline to do it. I built FounderOS to validate behavioral change apps, check if convenience beats inertia.
Happy to validate this concept? Need to know who pays (consumers or small biz) and how it's different from Splitwise/Expensify.
Drop it here?
It's a great idea but the landing page is very dull, it can be improved, you just need a little bit of copy and that will improve the engagement a lot.
For starters, just add this in your heading and initial copy:-
Headline:
TallyTalk- Track your Expenses in seconds without thinking ever again.
Initial copy (triggers pain):
You tried tracking your expense on a piece of paper
Maybe some note taking app
But it all failed
You keep failing at it
Losing money
Frustration creeps in by the end of them month
Especially if you are a student
And to solve this inevitable problem
I present to you
TallyTalk
There are just some example lines from top of my head, if you put something like this before the How It Works Section, it will definitely improve engagement from visitors, especially cold visitors who don't know what they are there for, invoking pain in the minds of the visitors really improves sales and clicks.
If you want I can later take a deeper look at other sections (cta, expectations etc) and help you improve them all.
Appreciate the feedback mate - thank you for this, for the initial copy, don't you think this is too much?
Totally fair and for a lot of users, especially if they already feel the problem, lighter copy works better.
Here’s a tighter version that keeps the signal without the weight:
Headline:
Track your expenses in seconds without thinking about it.
Subline:
Most expense trackers fail because they require discipline. TallyTalk works in the background so you don’t have to.
Same idea, just less explicit pain. You can always dial it up or down depending on how cold the traffic is.
