I'm a iOS solopreneur and lately I was creating apps using the 'new' OpenaAI's Vision API. A calorie and macros counter, captions generator, kids' drawings analyzer...
I was using all time the same stuff, so I organized the code, added ChatGPT and DALL·E and bundled it all in WrapFast (https://wrapfa.st)
I am very noob at web development so I purchased Marc Louvion's ShipFast and built the website in a week.
I launched in Product Hunt and didn't expect selling anything the first day, but it turns out that I made 3 sales ($747) in the first 24h.
With WrapFast I'm not only selling a boilerplate, I'm also productizing a service: I offer building a 1-feature-MVP using my boilerplate.
Today I've got the first request! 🥳
I'm trying to achieve kind of the business model of Brett with Designjoy, that would be awesome.
I wonder if I will be making more money selling how to build AI Wrappers than selling my own ones 🙃

honestly boilerplate app seems like a really profitable thing. This is the 2nd success I've seen.

Didn’t hide that. In fact I spread the word on Twitter that it would have taken me eons to achieve such a landing page without Marc’s boilerplate ;)
are you not concerned about offering a feature on top of the boilet plate?
a feature can be a pretty open ended SOW depending on what they ask for, but maybe its another revenue stream for you as far as now being an outsourced-dev/app agency...

A little bit to be honest, but I specify that the MVP is made with the WrapFast boilerplate and my expectations is that potential clients ask for simple GPT Wrappers. If they ask to build the new Facebook, I always can decline to do it and make a refund. However, if someone is going to spend thousands in my site I suppose 99% will contact first asking for the feature before hitting purchase.
My first client asked by email, continued in Telegram and we are in the process of signing an NDA before starting (requested from him)

Do you find people finish their projects with your boilerplate, or do they abandon halfway? I'm always curious cause I find onboarding to other people's code really tedious but maybe I'm missing the point.
To be honest it’s too early to be able to answer that question, as I launched less than a week ago. What I can say is that I am a successful user of another boilerplate (ShipFast by Marc Lou), so I can imagine (and I hope) that WrapFast users will launch their apps to the App Store ;)
