I met my co-founder on Indie Hackers 5 1/2 years ago. Over $1 million ARR later, we have now finally met in person

My co-founder Vishal and I run OneUp, a social media scheduling tool that is well over $1M ARR.

We originally met from me posting right here on Indie Hackers, where I asked if there was anyone who was looking to partner up on a project (unfortunately I deleted that original post at some point).

Vishal sent me this DM in response to the IH post:

(the term "growth hacking" was cool then ๐Ÿ˜…)

After a few Zoom calls, we decided to partner up.

But I am in the US and Vishal is in India, so we just operated remotely over Zoom and Slack without ever meeting in person.

We probably would have met up sooner, but Covid + me having a couple of kids made it hard to ever meet in person.

5 1/2 years later, we have now finally met in person (I came to Jaipur, India for Vishal's weddinfg and it was an awesome time):

Mine and Vishal's lives have been forever changed thanks to the Indie Hackers forum. So we will be forever grateful to @csallen and @channingallen ๐Ÿ™

PS We will also be announcing a new SaaS in the next week or so. Follow me on IH or on X (https://twitter.com/mynameis_davis) if you want to hear about it

Nice story. It reminded me of a time when I had a client for 5+ years who never asked for my photo or we never had a video meeting. We met every week on audio call and discussed the progress.

    Internet is amazing!

Fantastic story. An example of what will be the norm in the future. I'm working with a cofunder and I've only met him once in person. We make a lot of zoom calls and talk a lot via whatsapp. And it's exactly the same as the physical one. There's the same respect, loyalty and integrity.
