Hey IH,
I recently launched Driftly (https://driftly.app) - a no-code platform for building interactive product tours. I already have my first customer, but I need help. I'm looking for a marketing co-founder to come on board to take things to the next level! Who's interested?
I've been looking for an intuitive product tour product -- I will gladly check it out. I don't have the capacity to be a full co-founder but I can help spread the word or see if there are any distribution platforms or partnerships. A lot of smaller SaaS companies could use something like Driftly.
Thanks Dan! I really appreciate it!
I've just written a blog post on the topic of searching for a great marketing co-founder. Maybe it will help you. Here you go: https://spacetime.ooo/how-to-find-a-great-marketing-co-founder/

Hi, I'm a copywriter/marketer specializing in brand storytelling. Currently, I'm working a few projects but I'll be able to commit a decent amount of time. Hit me up if you're keen.
Hi Jacob! 👋🏽
Most product tours on bootstrap products are awful, congrats on customer #1!
On the marketing side, My team and I could definitely help you grow Driftly We're bootstrap founders' marketing brains from branding to community building, often as a co-founder role.
Just shot you a Twitter DM.
Hi Jacob,
I'm reaching out to several people looking for partners. I think we could be a good match. You can read more about me and find my contact info at www.beentheredonethat.nu .
I’ve had my own company for over a decade and sold it several years ago. Since then I’ve enjoyed a sabbatical, freelanced, spent time on some hobby software development projects and I became involved as an angel investor in two companies. What I’ve learned is that I just want to work on a company of my own again: building a product, developing cool stuff, growing the business.
I know I would be better at it and enjoy it more doing this with someone else / others, plus I don’t have a solid idea to start with. I have a wide range of experience in e-commerce, software development, data analytics, online marketing, management and entrepreneurship.
This is appcues but not $500/mo?? I'd hold off on hiring a co-founder, read up on this https://doingcontentright.com/ and find someone to help write content for you. You're going after a big company that is super expensive so try to hit "appcues vs ....", "appcues competitor" - those key phrases. Content marketing for this is not complicated, it will take some work but you don't need to go from a built product to a co-founder immediately.
Check out skio, https://skio.com/, they're targeting recharge which is super expensive, has a ton of support issues and has been super buggy lately. Their competitive marketing is cheeky and really resonates with those in the space.... do the same with appcues.
Rework your h1/h2. "A no-code platform for interactive product tours" - you mentioned this in the post, it's a better explanation of what your product does vs what you have currently.
h1 -
Customer onboarding
without a developer
h2 -
Follow our cue, product tours should be easy to use and affordable. Get started for $25/mo
I know this isn't what you asked for but I can see a simple to follow path for you to start making some serious revenue. I've looked for this exact solution about a year ago, you're filling a gap in the market. Being the "low price" is not a bad thing but it's probably not going to scale to an 8 fig business but you could get to high 6/7 figures with some content marketing. What you currently have is impressive, press forward on your own by hiring or writing some content on your own. Post on hacker news, do product hunt, etc. Why do you need a co-founder?
You’ve given me a lot to think about from this comment. I guess the issue for me is that I’m so far removed from the world that is marketing/sales/content writing that I never would have even thought of this. Coding is what makes me tick and that’s what I want to focus on. Making Driftly the best product out there. Taking on a co-founder would relieve me from all non-technical responsibilities and that’s something that’s very attractive to me.
following up on this... maybe look into a mastermind, group of similar people or post on indiehackers on a regular basis. Neville's course https://copywritingcourse.com/ is another option, it comes with access to a members area, you can ask questions about copy and marketing as part of the fee.
Doing it alone is hard but you don't necessarily need a co-founder to have someone else in it with you. Doing a new business with someone you don't like or vibe with is brutal.
Gotcha, I think you're not so far removed from marketing... maybe some imposter syndrome? :-p
Your website looks clean and the copy isn't bad. You have a lot of the main elements on the page. You got a sale too!
You can learn a lot by "borrowing" from others. Like your competitors... Appcues and other larger companies have spend a lot of time split testing and figuring out what works. Take your top 3 favorite sites and go through them section by section... if each one has similar elements, you should too.
Here's question about offloading all non-technical responsibilities... what if that person fails? You should have a vesting schedule, cliff and a minimum set of KPIs they need to hit. You're still going to have to manage them to some degree, why not start with a contractor/employee?
A co-founder is like marriage, finding someone random is going to be hard, really hard. I'd maybe try to find a content marketer and incentivize them like an affiliate, revenue share style or just pay them, I don't know your cash flow. I'd try to start this person on a part time/contract basis to see if it's a good fit. 6-8 months down the line you can see if KPI's are hit and you get along on a personal level. You can always back date some equity, it so much harder to take it away if the relationship goes south or they don't produce.
Hey Jacob, this looks great. I can definitely help with this. Whats the best way to reach you?
Best way to reach out to me in on Twitter.
Well done @jacobbeckerman.
We have 4,053 Volunteers from 81 countries at https://skilledup.life. They cannot be co-founders during the initial 3 month Volunteer period as we do not allow payment, rewards in kind or promises to be made during the Volunteer period. After this period, you can have a commercial agreement which can be used to offer equity etc.
We have both experienced as well as young University students. I'm building SkilledUp Life with 25 Volunteers.
Happy to help!
Looks good Jacob, will ping you on Twitter!
Awesome!
