I am in the process of developing a Flutter developer community (https://Widget.Build). This community will have a “Pro” level paid membership.
To help kickstart the community I have been thinking through some different launch promotions that I would love to get your thoughts on.
The first 100 users to sign up get free “Pro” for life.
Anyone who signed up for the pre-launch mailing list gets free “Pro” for life.
The first 50 people to receive 50 upvotes get free “Pro” for life.
The first 50 people to receive and give 25 upvotes get free “Pro” for life.
Just to add some context, upvotes work similar to IH.
What are your thoughts on these different promotions and which promotion do you think would work best? Any suggestions for other approaches?

Seems counterintuitive but what would happen if you raised the “price.”
Thinking: 1-Year “Pro” for Free or 90% Off “Pro” for Life.
We can be suspicious of free. Like a stranger walking up and giving us $20.
The 1-year trial idea comes from AWS.
ManyRequests is testing the 90% Off Lifetime Deal.
I lean more towards the 1-year trial:
90% off raises sunk-costs but adds friction.
You can keep the scarcity play with either one of these. First N users get the deal.
Very interested in what you decide to test and the results.
If I were to rise the price, I would grandfather in people at their current prices including those that had complementary memberships.
