Hi
I need help, advice, guidance...all of it. I'm posting this verbal vomit to just gather my thoughts on what I should do next. I am new to IndieHackers so please bear with me.
I work full time for a major firm advising clients on where to invest their money - we don't act like bankers at all, we actually ensure to stay away from bad investments. We mainly focus on passive investing like index funds.
I also have a coffee shop which is going to sh!t in this pandemic at the moment. We are doing takeaway only and business has halved.
I also have two other retail stores that are closed, and so we are selling online only but even then that is halved.
Losing my hair as we speak - but hopefully we'll survive and pull through this.
Now, I have an idea that I want to convert into a side hustle. I have zero coding experience, and frankly I don't think I have the time to learn coding from scratch as a married man, with the full time job and my other businesses. I know this is probably not a lot in comparison to what some people have to do to balance life, I just know i don't have it in me at the moment, I'm just burnt out!
I have looked at some no-code courses to learn but even then I don't think there's enough out there for what I want to do.
Essentially I need an app like Netflix. Simple right :(
I want to create my own animated videos for educational purposes and put it onto an app that is subscriber based. I have looked at sites like Uscreen but once again the costs are considerable.
The videos, I can do. I write my own scripts and I have really good animators that I pay to get the videos made, I already have a collection of videos that are ready to be uploaded.
It's the app that's causing issues. I have no idea where to start. There's just so much info out there that its confused me a lot, I just need someone with experience to guide me what to do.
As you can tell from the questions I have asked, they are all beginner level, I know this, as mentioned I am very new to this coding thing.
Thank you for reading this random post, and I will greatly appreciate it if any of you can help me or provide any sort of guidance.
Thank you
Building an app is a terrible idea if content creation is your strength.
thank you for the response....the idea is for people to have these videos on the go in an app explaining their finances...and charging them for the content we create on a monthly basis.
Have thought about uploading to a free platform like YouTube just to get traction and followers. Would save you a ton of money and time and you always have the option to build at a later time, once you’ve built a little following.
Thank you for your response. we will not be marketing it to the masses i.e. the average YouTube audience or individually....we want to approach companies that have employees in these financial institutions and we want the companies to subscribe all their employees onto this app - so the charge will be very small around 50 pence per user, hence why I don't think YouTube for us is the way forward yet...i just want to gauge how much it costs to create such an app where i can upload the videos for people to view....
Can you explain why uscreen is too expensive? Looks like a great deal for pretty much 100% match of what you need?
Thank you for your response. The issue is the per subscriber charge around 50 cent per user , being based in the UK we want to charge around 50 pence per user per month. The idea being low cost high volume...we will not be marketing to the masses, we are marketing it to institutions that have a lot of employees that want their employees to be more financially adept and this is the solution.
