I need some feedback on my idea please
Hey guys,
I'm currently in the process of developing a website suited for people that offer 1-to-1 coachings or teaching.
As a person offering you service you can create and schedule your appointments very easily and you have good overview over all appointments at any time.
The appointments are integrated with my own video-streaming solution so you wouldnt need to use Skype/Zoom or whatever (also the clients wouldnt need to registrate but could get started within a minute because it works in the browser).
What do you think? Thanks for your thoughts.
I think it's hard to say the strength of the idea without knowing it's core selling point in comparison to the competition.
It might be worth thinking about the major problem your solving and how you're doing it differently and newly.
This is mainly so that you don't pour in so much of your time and energy and find out there isn't a core audience for it.

Yeah I guess it is a pretty good project but the competition is just too strong.
In one aspect it actually does have a strength... there are certain service providers in germany responsible for video meetings for doctors. These meetings have to be certified and rely on WebRTC. The providers I tested so far don't implement it really well to be honest but they are established
Don't worry too much about competition though, maybe look into solving the problem specifically for doctors to start and doing it in a more efficient way.
That might be a better angle.

Do you think offering it for free for now would be a good idea? I really would want to see if anybody would use it and get some feedback ;)
Can you sell to that audience? You need to ask them if they really have a problem with this before you start building something targeted to them.
Depends, honestly there's no easy answer to that question and it's really a trial by error.
On one hand, if its free then theres less barrier to entry and you can easily get feedback.
On the other hand, if it's paid, you're certain only people who value it would use it and feedback is more relevant but there's more barrier to entry.
I'd say think it through but most importantly launch and test out both cases. Though if the value is worth it then I'd say charge (reasonably).

Yeah it started out as a project to improve my portfolio and is getting pretty advanced so im looking into the comparision with other services just now. But I definitely get your point, I thought so as well.
I think the main difference would be the absence of certain things that would lead to unnecessary complexity and a few very nice features that I didnt see anyone else having (but shouldnt be too "revolutionizing" haha). That being said it would be suitable for single persons or a smaller team that just need a quick and reliable solution for this kind of thing. Regarding the monetization...I thought about charging a small subscription fee.
Do you have any further advice for me or should I just keep it as what it is (a portolio project)?
a portolio project with users is more impressive than without ;)
but don't overwork it if it has no specific plan to compete in the market, just publish it in some generic places..
Yeah definitely man. Honestly I would feel great if it just gets some traffic and as you said some users would be nice. Because it is my first bigger project I think the things I learned in the process have a certain value to it already ;) I got one followup question.. which "generic places" do you refer to?

Some probably integrate video from others, but didn't search for one, anyway you can auto create there a link to your preferred video service and it's done
