I recently started an online coding Bootcamp, careermove.io where I teach people how to code and build products so they can build their own online business or get a job at the end.
My challenge is how I am pushing the message out.
I have two options to either focus on students building their own business at the end or them getting a job.
Most of my competitors are focused on students getting a job at the end of their programs. They even have career paths - where they coach students on how to write a resume, cover letters, and career advice.
The competitors are springboard.com, thinkful.com, etc.
Do you think I should focus on the student getting a job at the end of their programs and make my copy to reflect it as other bootcamps are doing or I should focus on helping them start their own SaaS business?
There are tens of what you call competitors, but for me, that's not the point. Yes, you sell the same "dream", a career in tech or the possibility to start a business, but teaching is not interchangeable.
I am sure you had in school teachers that taught the same subject and had a completely different view about the topic. The subject is the same, the difference is the teacher. So, in my opinion, you should focus on developing a unique and effective style of teaching, your students will decide how to use the skills acquired.
Thanks @Luqa
My challenge is the copy on my site and how to draw students and get them to register.
Some coding bootcamps use "get a job" to draw their students. Do you think I can draw student by having "Build your own profitable business" on my site's header?
Tricky one. Probably best to reach out to your actual users via email. Although most will be drawn in by the, "build a business" copy so yeah, a bias perhaps.
I think there is a space for your product.
Having said that I would change your h1 from, "Develop skills. Build your own profitable business" to "Learn to Code. Build your own profitable business".
Develop skills is very vague imo
Thank you @harrydry! I really appreciate. For the "Develop skills. Build your own profitable business", Don't you think this will also attract people that already know how to code?
I did it that way to also help coders build their own business. What do you think?
Fair point. but you have to mention coding.
Develop skills does not insinuate coding for me. And 50% of people will only read that first line./
Im not sure why you can't do both. Im sure like most things there are people at different stages in life who could use your help no matter what stage in life they are in. If you truly want to help people with your service make it available to everyone and target ( don't like that word ) But focus on whom ever needs your help and service.
Thanks for your comment. I really appreciate.
I can only put 1 copy on the h1 header.
Either "Learn to Code. Build tools and get a job" or "Develop skills. Build your own profitable business"
Which do you suggest I write on the home page?
Currently, I have "Develop skills. Build your own profitable business"
"Learn to code and have the freedom to do what you want."
"Learn to code and the Skys the limit."
"Learn to code."
"Learn to code, get a better job or start a business."
You could do it in question form also.
Do you want to get a tech job or start a tech business? I can teach you how to code?
Im sure you can think of better one but you get the point.
The simpler you make the message the better you will be able to clearly define your mission for both you and your customer.
