I need your help, I have no idea
Hello everyone, I'm new here and am writing for the first time in the community.
Last month, I firmly decided to leave after some time with an unloved job and started looking for an idea for a startup. Over the past month, I think a lot, I'm looking for it, but so far without result. I also read your articles on IH and sincerely rejoice for your success. Perhaps you could tell me how to move on. Because I'm already starting to give up thinking that I am not able to come up with something / create. Thanks in advance. Good to all!

An entrepreneur picks a large market (financial advisors), finds people in that industry on LinkedIn, cold-emails over a hundred, and comes up with several problems with solving for them with SaaS. He picks one, bootstraps a small business, and exits 5 years later. The talk describes the process of starting with the market / customers and using that to generate ideas.

You seem to be in a similar position I was a while ago. I spent a lot of time trying to come up with something worthy of a side project but couldn't. So I thought if only I could get others to give me ideas. Hence, I'm building a site where people post their ideas and get feedback on them, get help from others building it and provide a framework for building a startup.

It of course doesn't answer the question if you don't know what you are passionate about. I have plenty of interests, it can be hard to come up with something that could sell, but perhaps think of what you would be interested yourself in using and start from there.

I think you're trying too hard, thinking too big.
Start with something small, attend meetups, look around you, binge on netflix, ...
Ideas can come to you when you least expect it.
Oh and find people to share them with, I have 3 people I'll run to when an idea pops in my head :D
They'll either crush it or tell me it's that bad in the first 5 minutes.
As for the passion part, I think you can start with something you like if you think "passionate about" is too strong of a word.
I do agree it makes things easier when it's something that gets you pumped and excited.
