I noticed most freelancers don’t actually have a “system” for invoices and payments so I started building a lightweight one that just work

I’ve been working on a simple invoicing tool for freelancers and small agencies.

This idea actually came from seeing how many freelancers still don’t really have a proper system for handling invoices and payments. A lot of people are just using Excel sheets, WhatsApp messages, or even just mental tracking to remember who has paid and who hasn’t. It works at the start, but once you get a few clients, things start slipping. Payments get delayed, follow-ups get missed, and sometimes money just gets forgotten.

I’ve seen this happen enough times that I started thinking it doesn’t really need a complex accounting system to solve it. Most tools out there feel too heavy for someone who just wants to create an invoice, send it, and know whether it’s paid or not.

So I started building something very lightweight focused only on that. The goal is not to replace full accounting software, but just to make invoicing and payment tracking feel simple and stress-free for freelancers and small teams.

It’s still very early, and I’m not even sure yet if I’m solving it in the right way. That’s why I’m trying to talk to real freelancers and agency owners who actually deal with this daily and understand the pain better than I do.

If you send invoices to clients regularly, I’d honestly love to hear how you manage it right now, what tools you use, and what usually feels frustrating in that process. Even small insights would really help shape what this becomes.

If anyone wants to take a look or try it out, here’s the early version:
