I pivoted my SaaS earlier this year, and submitted it to Betalist.com, which is a community of makers and early adopters showcasing their startups and exchanging feedback.
As COVID hit Europe, many companies were forced to go remote, and the majority lacked the necessary infrastructure to work effectively.
I came up with the original idea of DoneMyBit to help teams that became remote to share their progress and communicate clearly on a shared Dashboard. Since DoneMyBit lacked real validation, it did not gain any notable traction, and after a few months, was abandoned.
A year later, I had a big change in my professional career: I was offered a leading role in a newly formed company, leading a team of software developers.
I've had lead roles in the past, but this time, it was different, because the company was also new. I had so much to do, I had a hard time keeping track of what needs to be done, and I needed a weekly planner tool desperately.
I checked all personal productivity tools and to-do lists, but none of them fit my need. They were either too complicated, or lacked a good overview of a week.
I figured, I could easily pivot DoneMyBit and make it useful for myself, and maybe others.
This time, instead of solving a problem I thought existed, I solved a problem I really had. I understand this is still far from validation, but at least I now understood the next steps.
Now, the job is to find people in similar positions, with similar challenges.
I spent a few weekends analysing good and functional (converting) landing pages, and created one myself. I'm pretty proud of the outcome.
Betalist often prefers a special offer for those who sign up early. DoneMyBit is free and I promised to stay free for all its early adopters forever.
I got 37 new subscriptions, and just reached over a 100.
I'm really happy about the results and I'm also excited to see what feedback I can get from my new users. I'm hoping to help them feel in control when they get overwhelmed on a busy week.
I'd be also happy to welcome you on board: http://donemybit.com
Or to simply answer any of your questions.
Hey, congrats!!
Sounds like a good idea. Just signed up and two little tweaks spotted.
In the verify email 'the DoneMyBit team' could do with a capital T (ok i'm picky).
On the profile page clicking the link to submit an idea opens the profile page again in a new tab (on mobile). Was going to ask how to add / invite a team member as it ask for name to show to the team when setting up (don't have a team but helpful to know).
Shall try it out over the coming days.
Good luck with the betalist.
Thank you for highlighting those, I'll fix them in the next release :)
I hope you'll find DoneMyBit useful - I'd be happy to hear your thoughts in a week.
