Free tools for tradespeople. Posted to a huge electrician group tonight — every experienced guy already has a system (Excel, Joist, ballparking). So how do you reach the beginners who'd actually use it but only lurk?
This is a useful signal, but I’d be careful with the lesson.
Experienced electricians replying with “we already have a system” does not mean the tool is wrong. It may just mean the visible commenters are not the buyer.
The harder part is figuring out what would make a beginner stop lurking and admit the problem publicly or privately.
I would not solve that loosely in the thread because the wrong first-user path can make a useful tool look unwanted.
If useful, share your email and I’ll send the tighter version in a way you can actually use without crowding the thread.
Appreciate the push-back. You're right that "we already have a system" mostly means the commenters aren't the buyer. Happy to keep it here in the thread if you've got specifics; I'd rather work it out in the open so others can chime in.
Fair push-back.
Happy to pressure-test parts of it publicly.
I just try not to turn these into full thread teardowns because the useful part is usually making the actual call on buyer, trigger, and first test. That tends to work better as a proper written pass than scattered thread advice.
The short public version: I’d treat “we already have a system” more as a filtering signal than a rejection signal.
